Շատ կարևոր է, որ Հայաստանի վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն ու ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հանդիպեն, որովհետև հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերություններում բազմաթիվ բացեր կան, ամբողջ ներուժը չի օգտագործվել: 

Այս մասին Tert.am-ի հետ զրույցում ասաց վերլուծաբան Ռուբեն Մեհրաբյանը: «Քաղաքական, տնտեսական հարաբերությունները, անվտանգության ոլորտը խորացման պոտենցիալ ունեն: Հայաստանում տեղի ունեցած հեղափոխությունից հետո իշխանությունների որակը փոխվել է, ինչը նշանակում է հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների նոր փիլիսոփայություն»,- նշեց Ռ. Մեհրաբյանը: 

Վերլուծաբանն ասաց, որ երեկ ՌԴ ԱԳ նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովը «ցինիկ» հայտարարություն է արել երկրորդ նախագահ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի հետ կապված՝ նշելով, որ դա «ջրի երես է հանում Ռուսաստանի էությունը», և այս պայմաններում ԱՄՆ հետ հարաբերությունների խորացման անհրաժեշտությունը ավելի ակնհայտ է դառնում:«Լավրովը, խոսելով ՀՀ նախկին նախագահ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի կալանավորման մասին, հայտարարել է, որ Հայաստանի իշխանությունների քայլերը հակասում են ավելի վաղ արված այն պնդումներին, որ «թավշյա հեղափոխությունից» հետո նախկին իշխանությունների հանդեպ հետապնդումներ չեն լինելու։ Սա թելադրում է, որ Հայաստանը դրամատիկ քայլերի դիմի, որպեսզի Ռուսաստանն իրեն նման իրավունքներ այստեղ չվերապահի:

Ռուսաստանը նման իրավունքներ վերապահելու լծակ չպետք է ունենա: Հայաստանը պետք է դիվերսիֆիկացնի իր արտաքին քաղաքականությունը, և այդ ուղղությամբ ԱՄՆ հետ հարաբերությունները կենսական կարևորության են Հայաստանի համար»,- մանրամասնեց Ռուբեն Մեհրաբյանը: 

Ըստ նրա՝ Լավրովի «այլանդակ» հայտարարությունից հետո Թրամփ-Փաշինյան հանդիպման կազմակերպման ջանքերը պետք է կրկնապատկվեն: 

«ԱՄՆ-ի հետ ահռելի պոտենցիալ կա պաշտպանական, անվտանգության, ժողովրդավարական բարեփոխումների ոլորտներում  համագործակցության առումով: Հայաստանի հարաբերությունները թե՛ միջազգային արժութային հիմնադրամի, թե՛ համաշխարհային բանկի հետ կարևորվելու են: Մեր հարաբերություններն ունենալու են որոշիչ նշանակություն: Հայաստանն ԱՄՆ-ի հետ համագործակցության չափազանց լայն օրակարգ ունի: Սա պայմանավորված է ոչ միայն Փաշինյան-Թրամփ հանդիպմամբ, այլև համակարգերով»,- ասաց Ռուբեն Մեհրաբյանը: 

Նա ողջունեց ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականների ստորագրահավաքը՝ նման հանդիպում անցկացնելու համար և ասաց, որ շատ հավանական է համարում, որ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն ու Դոնալդ Թրամփը հանդիպեն: 

Հիշեցնենք, որ Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլզը մոտ մեկ շաբաթ առաջ լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանն ասել էր՝ Միացյալ Նահանգներն ու Հայաստանը դիտարկում են Նիկոլ Փաշինյան-Դոնալդ Թրամփ հանդիպման հնարավորությունը սեպտեմբերին կայանալիք ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի նստաշրջանի ընթացքում
