 Հայ ժողովուրդը պետք է հպարտանա, որ ծնել է Զահրատի նման բանաստեղծ: Այս մասին Հայաստանի գրողների միությունում արևմտահայ ստեղծագործողի 90-ամյակին նվիրված երեկոյին ընթացքում նշեց ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարի տեղակալ Սերժ Սրապիոնյանը:

«Մենք դեռ անցյալ տարի պետք է նշեինք բանաստեղծի 90-ամյակը: Զահրատի մասին սերունդը դեռ պետք է երկար խոսի: Այս բանաստեղծը սրամիտ էր, հաճախ ընդվզող, նորարար, շարունակում էր բերել լավագույն ավանդույթները գրականության մեջ: Այս բանաստեղծը մնաց իր երկրի սիրահարը: Պետք է հպարտանանք, որ ժողովուրդը ծնել է Զահրատ և ծնելու է Զահրատներ»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ` նշեց Սերժ Սրապիոնյանը:

Զահրատի 90-ամյակին նվիրված երեկոյի ընթացքում Հայաստանի գրողների միության նախագահ Էդվարդ Միլիտոնյանը նշեց, որ 40 տարի առաջ հենց աշնանն է հանդիպել բանաստեղծի հետ:

«60-ականների վերջին «Գարուն»-ում հրատարակվել են Զահրատի բանաստեղծությունները: Նա շատ սիրելի բանաստեղծ դարձավ: Զահրատը պարզ զրույցին մոտ ոճով փոքրիկ բանաստեղծություններով թվում է, թե հասարակ մի պատմություն է ներկայացնում: Նրա բանաստեղծությունն ամեն ինչով ձգտում է պարզության, մերկության, բայց այստեղ հայտնվում են պարադոքսալ, անսպասելի մտքեր, որոնք լուսավորում են փոքրիկ բանաստեղծությունը»,-ընդգծեց Էդվարդ Միլիտոնյանը:

Երեկոյին ներկա ճանաչված կոմպոզիտոր Տիգրան Մանսուրյանը խոստովանեց` իրեն Հայաստանի գրողների միություն է բերել Զահրատի նկատմամբ տածած սերը:

«Կարճ ժամանակ առաջ մենք բանաստեղծի կնոջ` տիկին Անաիսի ամառանոցում էինք, հիշում էինք այն օրերը, երբ Զահրատը ոտքի վրա էր և ներկա էր մեր հանդիպումներին, շփումներին: Նրա 90-ամյակը Երևանում տոնելու մտադրություն կար: Ես Զահրատին ճանաչեցի 60-ականներին, «Գարուն» ամսագրի միջոցով»,-նշեց Տիգրան Մանսուրյանը:

Երեկոյի մասնակիցները կարևորեցին Զահրատի գործունեությունը և նրա ներդրումը` գրականության զարգացման մեջ:

Արևմտահայ բանաստեղծ Զահրատը (իսկական անուն ազգանունը՝ Զարեհ Յալտըզճյան) ծնվել է 1924 թվականին Կոստանդնուպոլսում։ 1942 թվականին ավարտել է Կ. Պոլսի Մխիթարյանի լիցեյը և ուսումը շարունակել Ստամբուլի պետական համալսարանի դեղագործական և բժշկական ֆակուլտետներում, որոնք կիսատ է թողել։ Սովորել Վիեննայի համալսարանի բժշկական ֆակուլտետում։ Աշխատակցել է պոլսահայ թերթերին, հանդեսներին, եղել «Մարմարա» օրաթերթի գրականության բաժնի վարիչ, «Սան» պարբերականի խմբագիր։

Առաջին բանաստեղծությունները լույս են տեսել 1943 թվականին։ Զահրատի բանաստեղծություններին բնորոշ են մեծ քաղաքում ապրող «փոքր» մարդու ողբերգականությունը, թեմաների բազմազանությունը, թարմ արտահայտչաձևերի յուրօրինակությունը։ Զահրատի առանձին գրքեր թարգմանվել են անգլերեն, ֆրանսերեն, հունարեն և այլն:
