Մենք գիտենք, որ...

Կոպերնիկոսը (1473–1543) առաջինն է հայտարարել, որ Երկիրը պտտվում է Արեգակի շուրջը: Այդ տեսությունը կոչվում է աշխարհի հելիոցենտրիկ համակարգ:

Իրականում այդպես չէ:

Պարզվում է, որ դա Կոպերնիկոսից դեռևս 1300 տարի առաջ ասել է Արիստարխ Սամոսացին (ծնված մեր թվարկությունից առաջ 310 թվականին) : Նա ոչ միայն ասում էր, որ Երկիրը պտտվում է արևի շուրջը, այլ նաև մոտավորապես հաշվարկել է լուսնի, արևի և երկրի զանգվածները, երկրից լուսնի և արևի հեռավորությունները, այն, որ երկնակամարը սֆերա չէ, և որ տիեզերքը պրակտիկորեն անսահման է: Իհարկե, նրա այդ բոլոր մտքերն էլ մնացին առանց ուշադրության: Մեզ հասել է նրա աշխատություններից միայն մեկը՝ «Արևի և լուսնի չափերի և հեռավորությունների մասին», իսկ ժլատ ինֆորմացիա այն մասին, որ նա հայտարարել է, թե երկիրն է պտտվում արևի շուրջը, կան Արիստոտելի, Պլուտարքոսի և այլ անտիկ հեղինակների գրվածքներում: Ընդ որում, այդ անտիկ հեղինակները Արիստարխի տեսությունը նշում էին նրա համար, որ այն ժխտեն: Այն ժամանակ մարդիկ կարծում էին, որ արևը և աստղերն են պտտվում երկրի շուրջը:

Արիստարխ Սամոսացին իր վարկածը փորձում էր ապացուցել նրանով, որ Արեգակը ավելի մեծ մարմին է, քան Երկիրը, իսկ սովորաբար այնպես չի լինում, որ մեծ մարմինը պտտվի փոքրի շուրջը: Ի՞նչ աստիճանի էր նա զարգացրել իր այս վարկածը, անհայտ է, բայց նա կատարել էր կարևոր եզրահանգում այն մասին, որ աստղերի հեռավորությունների հետ համեմատած՝ երկրային ուղեծիրը ընդամենը կետ է: Նրա այս հաարձակ մտքին ի պատասխան, օրինակ, փիլիսոփա Կլեանիֆը կոչ էր անում Արիստարխին դատել, քանի որ նա տեղից շարժում է Երկիրը՝ «Աշխարհի օջախը», և չի ընդունում, որ այն տիեզերքի կենտրոնն է:

Հայտնի է, որ Արիստարխը ծնվել է Սամոս կղզում: Նրա կյանքի տարիները ճշգրիտ հայտնի չեն (մոտավորապես 310–230 թթ. մեր թվարկությունից առաջ): Կարելի է ենթադրել, որ Արիստարխը երկար ժամանակ աշխատել է Ալեքսանդրիայում, որը հանդիսանում էր հելլենիզմի գիտական կենտրոն: Աշխարհի հելիոցենտրիկ համակարգ լինելու մասին նրա մտքերի համար նրան մեղադրել են անաստվածության մեջ, սակայն թե հետո ինչ է եղել, ինչից է մահացել նա, հայտնի չէ:

Արիստարխ Սամոսացու անունը անմահացնում են նրա անունով անվանված լուսնային մի խառնարան, մի աստերոիդ և նրա հայրենի Սամոս կղզու օդանավակայանը:

Հետաքրքիր միտք է այն, որ օրենքով փոքր մարմինն է պտտվում մեծ մարմնի շուրջը: Մարդկային հասարակության մեջ դա քիչ է գործում: Այստեղ սովորաբար հակառակն է: Բոլորդ տեսած կլինեք, թե հաստավիզ, մեծ մարմին ունեցող թիկնապահները ինչպես են հոլի պես պտտվում փոքրամարմին շեֆի շուրջը (շատ ցայտուն է դա հատկապես Հայաստանում): Բայց դե, հակառակն էլ է լինում. փոքր–մոքր կուսակցությունները անընդհատ պտտվում են հզորների շուրջը՝ արևի տակ իրենց տեղն ապահովելու համար...
