Մեծ Բրիտանիայի թագուհի Եղիսաբեթ 2-րդը մտադիր  է թագավորության թագը փոխանցել ավագ որդուն՝ Ուելսի արքայազն Չարլզին։

Daily Mirror–ը՝ վկայակոչելով թագավորական թղթակից Ռոբերտ Ջոբսոնի Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes And Dreams («Չարլզը 70 տարեկանում. Մտքեր, հույսեր ու երազանքներ») գիրքը  հայտնում է, թե ով կլինի թագաժառանգը երեք տարի անց։ Թագուհին մտադիր է թագավորական գործերից հեռանալ 95 տարեկանում։ Միաժամանակ, թերթը պնդում է, որ թագուհին մտադիր է ժառանգին դարձնել ռեգենտ արքայազն, ինչը նշանակում է, որ Չարլզը թագավոր կդառնա այդ բառի բոլոր իմաստներով, սակայն ձեւականորեն Եղիսաբեթ 2-րդը կշարունակի ծառայել իր ժողովրդին մինչեւ մահը»,–ասված է նյութում։

Համաձայն օրենսդրական փաստաթղթերի՝ ռեգենտը պետք է  21 տարեկանից մեծ լինի, լինի Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի եւ բնակվի Միացյալ Թագավորության տարածքում։ Ըստ այս կանոնների՝ միակ ռեգենտը Գեորգ IV (1762 - 1830) է եղել, որը կառավարվել է 1810-1820 թվականններին, այն բանից հետո, երբ հայրը՝ Գեորգ III (1738 - 1820) ծանր հիվանդ էր։
