INTERNATIONAL NEWSԱՄՆ Կալիֆոռնիա նահանգի Սաուզենդ Օքս քաղաքի բարերից մեկում կրակ բացած զինված անձը՝ 29-ամյա Յեն Դևիդ Լոնգը, ինքնասպանություն է գործել, երբ դեպքի վայր են ժամանել իրավապահները: Այս մասին, ինչպես փոխանցում է TACC-ը, CNN-ի հեռարձակած մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ հայտարարել է տեղի ոստիկանության շերիֆ Ջեֆ Դինը:
«Ենթադրում ենք, որ նա ինքնասպանություն է գործել, երբ ներս են մտել ոստիկանները», - նշել է նա՝ հավելելով, որ հրաձիգը պարզապես անկանոն կրակ է բացել և չի ընտրել իր զոհերին:
Դինն ընդգծել է, որ Լոնգը եղել է ԱՄՆ ծովային հետևակի վետերան և զենքն օրինական ճանապարհով է ձեռք բերել: Նրա խոսքով՝ չկա պատճառ ենթադրելու, թե մինչ այս դեպքը Լոնգի հետ որևէ բան այն չէր, սակայն ակնհայտ է, որ ինչ-որ բան ստիպել է նրան նման քայլի գնալ:
Միևնույն ժամանակ շերիֆը նշել է, որ Լոնգն ուներ հոգեկան խանգարումներ, և ոստիկանությունը տեղյակ էր այդ մասին: Նրա խոսքով՝ դեռ ընթացիկ տարվա ապրիլին ոստիկանությունն ահազանգ է ստացել Լենգի տնից, որից հետո 29-ամյա երիտասարդի մոտ հոգեբան է ուղարկվել:
