Իտալիայում ՀՀ դեսպանության նախաձեռնությամբ Հռոմում տեղի ունեցավ «Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշողություն և ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելումը» խորագրով համաժողովը:
 Այն կազմակերպվել էր Ցեղասպանության հանցագործությունը կանխարգելելու և պատժելու մասին կոնվենցիայի և Մարդու իրավունքների հռչակագրի 70-ամյակի առթիվ: Իտալիայում ՀՀ արտակարգ եւ լիազոր դեսպան Վիկտորյա Բաղդասարյանն իր ելույթում նշեց, որ չնայած ավելի քան 100 տարի է անցել 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանությունից, սակայն այսօր էլ մեր աչքի առջև կատարվող էթնիկ և կրոնական խմբերի նկատմամբ ինքնությամբ պայմանավորված հանցագործությունները ցույց են տալիս, որ աշխարհը զերծ չէ այս նողկալի արհավիրքից:
 
«Միջազգային հանրության համար սա հերթական ահազանգն է այն մասին, որ ցեղասպանությունների ու մարդկության դեմ հանցագործությունների վտանգն ամենևին չի վերացել և պահանջում է միջազգային կառույցների, պետությունների ու քաղաքացիական հասարակության համախմբված և հետևողական քայլեր»,-ընդգծեց դեսպանը:
 
Դեսպանն անդրադարձավ նաեւ ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելման հարցում միջազգային բարձր ամբիոններում Հայաստանի նախաձեռնությունների և Հայոց ցեղասպանության միջազգային դատապարտման ու ճանաչման կարևորությանը: «Մարդկության դեմ նմանօրինակ հանցագործությունները պահանջում են համընդհանուր գործողություններ միջազգային կառույցների ու քաղաքացիական հանրության կողմից: Հարկ է ընդգծել, որ ցեղասպանությունների եւ մարդկության դեմ հանցագործությունների կրկնվելու պատճառները միասնականության, ցեղասպանությունների ճանաչման եւ դատապարտման վճռականության եւ հետեւողականության բացակայությունն է»,-նկատեց նա:
 
Վիկտորյա Բաղդասարյանը հավելեց նաեւ, որ հայերը՝ որպես ցեղասպանության սարսափները վերապրած ժողովուրդ, բարոյական պատասխանատվություն են զգում՝ ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելման կարեւորության հարցը բարձրացնելու համար:
 
Բանախոսների թվում էին հայազգի գրող, «Արտույտների ագարակը» վեպի հեղինակ Անտոնիա Արսլանը, Հռոմի հայրապետական արևելագիտության համալսարանի կանոնիկ իրավունքի ֆակուլտետի պրոֆեսոր հայր Ջորջ Հենրի Ռույսենը, Սիենայի համալսարանի մարդու իրավունքների պատմության պրոֆեսոր Մարչելո Ֆլորեսը, Միլանի գիտությունների համալսարանի հանրային իրավունքի ինստիտուտների պրոֆեսոր Բարբարա Ռանդացոն, Միլանի համալսարանի հայոց լեզվի պրոֆեսոր Պայքար Սիվազլյանը, ինչպես նաեւ քաղաքական, մշակութային, կրոնական այլ գործիչներ եւ հայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչներ:
