 Ամերիկահայ ռոք երգիչ, հայտնի «System of a Down» ալտերնատիվ մետալ-ռոք խմբի մենակատար Սերժ Թանկյանը երաժշտության և փոփ-մշակույթի ասպարեզում հեղինակավոր «Rolling Stone» ամսագրին հարցազրույց է տվել, որի ընթացքում անդրադարձել է Հայաստանին և «Սպիտակ» ֆիլմին: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, լրագրողը Թանկյանին հարցրել է, թե արդյոք նա որևէ կապ ունեցել է 1988 թվականի Սպիտակի երկրաշարժի հետ։ Երաժիշտը պատասխանել է, որ իր կինը փրկվել է երկրաշարժից:

«Այն պահին, երբ դա տեղի ունեցավ, նա դպրոցում էր, և, բարեբախտաբար, նրանց շենքը չէր փլվել: Նրանք շատ մոտ էին էպիկենտրոնին: Երկրաշարժի տարիները Հայաստանի համար ամենամութն  էին  և հուզական` առանց էլեկտրաէներգիայի, գազի, ջրի՝ գումարած սառը ձմեռները:

Կինս ինձ պատմել է, թե ինչպես են նրանք կրակ արել դպրոցում, որպեսզի  պարզապես տաքանան: Երկրաշարժից անմիջապես հետո սկսվեց թալանը  և դիակապտությունը, հանցագործության մակարդակն աճեց: Մարդիկ ասում էին. «Գրողը տանի, մենք հենց նոր իմացանք, որ 20 րոպեից մենք ջուր կունենանք» և վազում էին տուն: Նրանք պետք է իմանային, թե ինչպես միացնեն մարտկոցները՝ հեռուստացույցով ինչ-որ բան դիտելու համար, քանի որ էլեկտրականություն չկար: Իմ կնոջ սերունդը բացառիկ է: Նա կարող է անել ամեն ինչ»,- ասել է Թանկյանը:

Նրա խոսքով`ինքը այդ ժամանակ Միացյալ Նահանգներում էր,  և հիշում է, թե ինչպես էր տնից–տուն անցնում՝ փորձելով Հայաստանի համար միջոցներ հավաքել:

«Եթե գնաք Սպիտակ՝ երկրաշարժի էպիկենտրոն, դուք կտեսնեք, թե այն որքան յուրահատուկ է. ամեն հատված, ամեն մի փողոց  ճարտարապետությամբ լրիվ տարբեր են  իրարից, քանի որ մեկը կառուցում են ամերիկացիները, մեկը`շվեդները, երրորդը՝  իտալացիները եւ գերմանացիները: Սպիտակը վառ վկայություն է, որ մարդկությունը միասին կարող է ստեղծել անհրաժեշտ, լավ, առաջադեմ մի բան»,- նշել է Թանկյանը:

Երաժիշտը հարցազրույցի ընթացքում հիշել է նաև այդ դրվագը, երբ հանդիպել էր մի ընտանիքի հետ, որի հոսանքը միացվում էր օրական միայն մեկ կամ երկու ժամով.

«Դա մեր ընկեր Մարիամ Մովսիսյանի ընտանիքն էր: Եվ նա «թույն» տատիկ  ուներ: Ընկերս՝  Թոնին մրսել էր, իսկ նա նրան ասաց. «Ոչ, պետք է խմես այս օղուց եւ թեյից մի քիչ, որպեսզի լավանաս»»,- պատմում է Թանկյանը:

Պատմելով իր հետագա ծրագրեի մասին, ամերիկահայ երաժիշտը հայտնեց, որ ինքը ֆիլմերի համար ունի մի քանի այլ ստեղծագործություններ:

 «Ես նաև երկու վավերագրական ֆիլմի ռեժիսոր եմ: Դրանցից մեկը «I Am Not Alone» հայկական հեղափոխության մասին է: Ես հանդիպեցի վարչապետին եւ ասացի. «Մենք դրա մասին պետք է ֆիլմ նկարենք: Ոչ ոք չի հավատա, որ կոռումպացված ռեժիմը փոխարինվեց ժողովրդավարականով 40 օրվա ընթացքում՝ առանց արյան կաթիլի: Ոչ ոք չի հավատա դրան»: Ես երաժշտություն կգրեմ այդ ֆիլմի համար: Մենք նաեւ նկարահանում ենք երաժշտական վավերագրական ֆիլմ «Truth to Power» աշխատանքային վերնագրով: Դա այն մասին է, թե արդյոք երաժշտությունը կարո՞ղ է փոխել աշխարհը»,- եզրափակել է Թանկյանը:
