Առաջին սպանությունը տեղի էր ունեցել Գոնզալեզ քաղաքում՝ թրեյլերների զբոսայգում: Երբ ոստիկանությունը ժամանել էր դեպքի վայր, զոհերը՝ 51-ամյա Էլիզաբեթ եւ Քիթ Թերիոթը դեռեւս ողջ էին: Նրանք հայտնել էին, որ կրակողն իրենց որդին էր, որին նրանք հրամայել էին հեռանալ տանից եւ այլեւս չվերադառնալ:
Այնուհետեւ հրաձիգը սպանել էր եւս երեք մարդու Լիվինգստոնի սահմանին: Զոհերը նրա ծանոթներն էին՝ 43-ամյա Բիլլի Էրնեսթը, 20-ամյա Սամմեր Էրնեսթն ու 17-ամյա Թաններ Էրնեսթը:
