Փետրվարի 11-ը Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրն է

Միջազգային օրացույցում փետրվարի 11-ը նշվում է որպես Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օր (World Day of the Sick): Այս օրը նախաձեռնվել է, ըստ ամենայնի, որպես սոցիալական քայլ՝ ուղղված անբուժելի հիվանդներին սատարելուն, հաղորդում է Calend.ru-ն:
Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրը նախաձեռնել էր 264-րդ Հռոմի Պապ Հովհաննես Պողոս II-ը (Pope John Paul II) 1992 թվականի մայիսի 13-ին: Հատուկ այդ առիթով գրված իր ուղերձում նա նշել էր, որ Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրն ունի որոշակի նպատակ:
1991 թվականին Հռոմի Պապ Հովհաննես Պողոս II-ի մոտ ախտորոշվել էր Պարկինսոնի հիվանդությունը՝: Հատկանշական է, որ Հռոմի Պապը նախաձեռնել է8 Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրն իր ախտորոշման մասին տեղեկանալուց մեկ տարի անց: 2005 թվականին հաստատված Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրն ստացավ հատուկ նշանակություն, քանի որ Հովհաննես Պողոս II-ը մահացել է հենց այդ տարի: Հիվանդի համաշխարհային օրն առաջին անգամ նշել են 1993 թվականին: Փետրվարի 11-ին, ամբողջ աշխարհի կաթոլիկները նշում են Հիվանդի օրը: Դարեր առաջ հենց այս օրը ֆրանսիական Լուրդ քաղաքում տեղի էր ունեցել Մարիամ Աստվածածնի հայտնությունը: Սուրբ Կույսը բուժել էր հիվանդներին՝ այդկերպ դառնալով նրանց փրկության խորհրդանիշը: Այսօր աշխարհի մի շարք երկրներում անցկացվում են տարատեսակ միջոցառումներ՝ նվիրված հիվանդությունների կանխարգելմանը, բուժմանն ու, իհարկե, առողջության եւ առողջ ապրելապերպի թեմային: Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցիներում պատարագ է մատուցվում, իսկ հավատացյալներն իրենց կարեկցանքն ու ապրումակցումն են ուղղում հիվանդներին:
