Ամեն ինչ գիտե՞նք Կոլումբոսի մասին. իրականում ոչինչ էլ չգիտենք

Քրիստափոր Կոլումբոսը եղել է ամենահայտնի ծովագնացներից մեկը և նրա մասին հայտնի է ամեն ինչ:
Իրականում այնքան էլ այդպես չէ:
Պարզվում է, որ Ամերիկա մայրցամաքը հայտնաբերող Կոլումբոսի ամբողջ կյանքը ծածկված է շղարշով: Հայտնի է, որ նա ծնվել է 1451 թվականին: Պատմաբանների մեծ մասն այն կարծիքին է, որ նա ծնվել է Ջենովա քաղաքում: Կան նաև ծննդավայրի այլ վարկածներ, ավելին՝ ներկայումս իտալական և իսպանական 6 քաղաքներ վիճում են՝ համարելով, որ Կոլումբոսի «փոքր հայրենիքն» իրենք են: Համարվում է, որ նրա հայրը եղել է ջենովացի ջուլհակ Դոմենիկո Կոլումբոսը, մայրը՝ Սյուզաննա Ֆոնտանորոսան: Իհարկե, այս ամենը գիտականորեն հաստատված չէ: Կոլումբոսի ազգության մասին ևս իրար հակասող տվյալներ կան: Համարվում է, որ նա իտալացի է, նույն հաջողությամբ նրան կարելի է իսպանացի, կորսիկացի, պորտուգալացի, կատալոնցի, հրեա և անգամ հույն համարել: Հարցն այն է, որ նա խոսում էր Ջենովայի ակցենտով իտալերեն, գրում և կարդում էր իսպաներեն և լատիներեն, բայց նկատելի պորտուգալական ակցենտով, իսկ իր գաղտնի օրագիրը լրացնում էր հունարենով:

Քրիստափոր Կոլումբոսը մահացել է 1506 թվականին իսպանական Վալիադոլիդ քաղաքում: Անգամ անհայտ է, թե որտեղ է նա թաղված: Հայտնի է միայն, որ մահից հետո նրա դիակի վրայից հեռացրել են փափուկ հյուսվածքները և թաղել ոսկորները (16–րդ դարի Եվրոպայում այդպես էին թաղում հայտնի և ազդեցիկ մարդկանց): Սկզբում մեծ հայտնագործողի ոսկորները թաղել են Վալիադոլիդ քաղաքում, հետո իսպանական Կուևաս եկեղեցում, հետո Կուբայի Սանտա Դոմինիկ քաղաքում, հետո Հավայան կղզիներում և վերջապես, հավանաբար, նորից Իսպանիայում՝ Սևիլ յան եկեղեցական համալիրում: Այնուամենայնիվ, ներկայումս Սանտա Դոմինիկում մինչև այժմ կա Կոլումբոսի սարկոֆագը, իսկ իտալական Գենուա և Պավիա քաղաքները անընդհատ հայտարարում են, որ նա թաղված է իրենց մոտ: Հնարավոր է, որ այս գաղտնիքը վերջապես պարզվի, քանի որ ներկայումս գիտնականները իրականացնում են նշված գերեզմանների ոսկորների գենետիկ հետազոտություններ:
