Ինչպես գիտական, այնպես էլ ժողովրդական բժշկության մեջ կաղամբը օգտագործվում է շուրջ  75 հիմնական և 30  ուղեկցող հիվանդությունների բուժման համար:

Կաղամբի օգնությամբ բուժում են ստամոքսը, լյարդը, ընդհուպ մինչև դեղնախտը, փայծաղը,  վերին շնչուղիների հիվանդությունները,  աթերսոկլերոզը, բրոնխիտը, գլխացավերը, դիաբետը, ճարպակալումը:

Կաթի մեջ եփված կաղամբի թերթեըը  բուժում են այրվածքները, խոցերը, թարախակալված վերքերը:

Կաղամբի թարմ  տերևը մեղմացնում են արթրիթտի, պոլիարթրիտի ցավերը:

Աթերոսկլերոզի դեպքում անհրաժեշտ է պատրաստել հետևյալ  միջոցը:  Մեկ բաժակ կաղամբի տաք հյութի մեջ ավելացնել 2 թեյի գալ  շաքարավազ,  խառնել և խմել  օրական ¼ բաժակ  օրը 4 անգամ ուտելուց 15-20 րոպե առաջ:

Լյամբլյաների դեպքում  առավոտյան քաղցած վիճակում խմել  կես բաժակ կաղամբի հյութ, կուրսը 40 օր:

Թոքերի տուբերկուլյոզի դեպքում  օրը 3 անգամ խմել  կաղամբի տաք հյութ մեղրով:

Լյարդի ցիռոզի դեպքում ամեն  օր ուտելուց առաջ օրը 3 անգամ խմել  կաղամբի թարմ քամված տաք հյութ:  Այնուհետև 2 շաբաթ ընդմիջել և խմել ևս 7-10 օր:

Պորտի ճողվածքի  դեպքում  պորտի վրա թթու կաղամբի  հյութով թրջած թանզիֆ դնել,  վրայից դնել  թարմ կարտոֆիլի  կտորներ ,2 սմ հաստությամբ:  Կանոնավոր  կիրառման դեպքում ճողվածքը լիովին կանեհատա 1 ամիս անց:

Գլխացավից ազատվելու համար կաղամբի տերևը տրորել, որ փափկի  և դնել գլխի ցավող հատվածում ու վրայից տաք  բրդե գլխարկ կրել:

Կաղամբը հակացուցված է  սրտի իշեմիկ հիվանդութան, սրտամկանի ինֆարկտի,  սրտի աշխատանքի խանգարման,  հիպերտոնիայի,  երիկամների հիվանդությունների  տասներկումատնյա աղիի  խոցի եպքում:
