Մեր ժամանակների հերոս կրտսեր սերժանտ Ռոբերտ Աբաջյան. 2016-ի ապրիլի 1-ի լույս 2-ի գիշերն ադրբեջանական զինուժին հաջողվել էր ներթափանցել Թալիշ, գլխատել բնակիչներին, գրավել 14 ռազմական հենակետ, ինչպես նաեւ ռմբակոծել գրեթե բոլոր տները։

Առավել թեժ մարտեր են ընթացել Հադրութի (հարավային) եւ  Մարտակերտի (հյուսիսարեւելյան) ուղղություններով։

Մարտակերտի ուղղությամբ տեղակայված դիրքն անձնազոհաբար պաշտպանելիս զոհվեց 19-ամյա Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանը (Մոնումենտցի Կյաժը): Նույն դիրքի անձնակազմից էին նաեւ վաշտի հրամանատար, կապիտան Արմենակ Ուրֆանյանը, գնդացրորդներ Քյարամ Սլոյանն ու Անդրանիկ Զոհրաբյանը: Անհավասար մարտը տեւել է երկու ժամ: Վաշտի հրամանատարի զոհվելուց հետո ոտքից վիրավոր կրտսեր սերժանտ Աբաջյանն իր վրա է վերցրել հրամանատարությունը եւ մինչեւ վերջին փամփուշտը շարունակել կռիվը:

Նկատելով, որ խրամատում զինամթերքը վերջանում է, Աբաջյանը զինվորներին ուղարկել է փամփուշտ բերելու։ Այդ ընթացքում հակառակորդին հաջողվել է թափանցել դիրք։ Աբաջյանը, միակ ծառայակցի՝ վիրավորում ստացած գնդացրորդ Անդրանիկ Զոհրաբյանի հետ համառ դիմակայությամբ, նահանջում են դեպի դիրքային կացարան։ Արյունահոսությունից, սակայն մահանում է Զոհրաբյանը։ Մարտական խորշում դիրքավորվելով, Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանը մինչեւ վերջին փամփուշտը շարունակել է միայնակ կռվել թշնամու մեծաթիվ ուժերի դեմ, միեւնույն ժամանակ կապ հաստատելով գումարտակի հրամանատարի հետ եւ վերջինիս կարեւոր տեղեկություններ հաղորդում դիրքում կատարվող դեպքերի մասին։ Նկատելով իրեն մոտեցող թշնամուն, Աբաջյանը վերջին անգամ կապի է դուրս եկել եւ ասել, որ արդեն հանել է իր մոտ մնացած վերջին նռնակը ու պատրաստ սպասել է, հենց մոտենան, իր հետ միասին պայթեցնելու է նրանց, որ չհանձնվի։

Տեսնելով իրեն մոտեցող հակառակորդին, Աբաջյանը բացված նռնակը թաքցրել է ափի մեջ եւ ձեռքերը վեր բարձրացրել, իբր հանձնվում է։ Թույլ տալով, որ բավականաչափ իրեն մոտենան, Աբաջյանն իր հետ միասին նռնակով պայթեցրել  է հակառակորդի մի քանի զինվորի։

Անձնազոհ քայլով Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանը նաեւ փրկել է թիկունքից օգնության հասած հայկական ուժերի զինվորներին։ Աբաջյանի՝ «այս դիրքը հանձնողի մերը» արտահայտությունը թեւավոր խոսք է դարձել:

Հակառակորդի սանձազերծած լայնածավալ ռազմական գործողությունների ընթացքում Արցախի Հանրապետության պետական սահմանը պաշտպանելիս ցուցաբերած բացառիկ քաջության ու արիության համար պաշտպանության բանակի կրտսեր սերժանտ Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանին հետմահու շնորհվել է «Արցախի հերոս» Արցախի Հանրապետության բարձրագույն կոչում. հետմահու պարգեւատրվել է «Ոսկե արծիվ» եւ Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Մարտական խաչ առաջին աստիճանի շքանշաններով։ Աբաջյանն առաջինն է, որը կրտսեր սերժանտ լինելով, բարձրագույն կոչման է արժանացել: Նա թվով 24-րդն է , որը արժանանում է «Արցախի հերոս» բարձրագույն կոչմանը, ինչպես նաեւ տվյալ կոչման ամենաերիտասարդ կրողը:

Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանը ծնվել է 1996 թ. նոյեմբերի 16-ին՝ Երեւանում։ 2003 թ. ընդունվել է Երևանի N 147 հիմնական դպրոց, որն ավարտել է 2012 թ.։ Նույն թվականին ընդունվել է Երեւանի պետական հենակետային բժշկական քոլեջ՝ այն ավարտելով 2014-ին։ Այնուհետեւ ընդունվել է Մայր Թերեզայի անվան բժշկական ինստիտուտ։ Ռոբերտ Աբաջյանը պարտադիր ժամկետային զինծառայության է անցել 2014 թ.: Բարձր առաջադիմության շնորհիվ ստացել է կրտսեր սերժանտի կոչում։ 2016 թվականի նոյեմբերի 16-ին իր հարազատ կրթօջախում հերոսի հիշատակին դասարան է անվանակոչվել:
