Լիբիայի ազգային բանակը, որը գործում է մարշալ Հաֆթարի ղեկավարությամբ, ռազմական ինքնաթիռ է խոցել, որն օդ է բարձրացել Միսրատա քաղաքից:

Ավելի վաղ հաղորդվում էր, որ Հաֆթարի բանակը վերահսկողություն է հաստատել մայրաքաղաք Տրիպոլիից 40 կմ հեռավորությամբ գտնվող ռազմաբազայի նկատմամբ, որը ենթարկվում է վարչապետ Ֆաիզ Սարաջի ազգային համաձայնության կառավարությանը:
Լիբիայում երկիշխանություն է տիրում 2011 թվականին Մուամմար Կադդաֆիի սպանությունից հետո: Լիբիայի արևելյան շրջանում իշխում է ընտրված խորհրդարանը, իսկ Տրիպոլիում՝ ՄԱԿ-ի և ԵՄ-ի աջակցությամբ կազմավորված ազգային համաձայնության կառավարությունը՝ Ֆաիզ Սարաջի գլխավորությամբ:
Հինգշաբթի Հաֆթարը հրաման է տվել գրոհ սկսել մայրաքաղաքի ուղղությամբ «ահաբեկիչներից ազատագրելու համար»: ԶԼՄ-ների հաղորդմամբ՝ մարշալին ենթակա ուժերը վերահսկողություն են հաստատել Տրիպոլիից հարավ գտնվող Գարյան և Սուրման քաղաքներում:
