Մենք գիտենք, որ...

Ռոբին Հուդը արդարության մարտիկ էր, նա թալանում էր հարուստներին և թալանածը բաժանում աղքատներին։

Իրականում այս հարցն այնքան էլ միանշանակ չէ։

Ըստ հանրագիտարանների, Ռոբին Հուդը միջին դարերի անգլիական ժողովրդական բալլադների, անտառային ավազակների առաջնորդ և հերոս է եղել։ Ըստ այդ բալլադների, նա իր բանդայի հետ թաքնվում էր Նոտտինգեմի մոտ գտնվող Շերվուդյան անտառում և պայքարում էր արդարության համար, այսինքն՝ թալանում էր հարուստ ասպետներին և հոգևորականներին, ապա ավարը բաժանում աղքատներին։ Իհարկե, այս ամենը գեղեցիկ է, բայց առողջ տրամաբանությունից դուրս։ Ուղղակի ստացվել է այնպես, որ ինչպես Արթուր թագավորը, այնպես էլ Ռոբին Հուդը դարձել են անգլիական պատմության առասպելական դրական հերոսներ, և այդ ամենը տարեցտարի ամրապնդվում է տարբեր ստեղծագործությունների և ֆիլմերի միջոցով։ Անգամ ինչ-որ տեղ անիմաստ է հիշատակել արխիվային նյութերը և գիտնականների հետազոտությունները` պարզելու համար, թե ով էր Ռոբին Հուդը։ Արդյոք հնարավո՞ր է, որ ուղեղը չմթագնած մարդը փողը բաժանի աղքատներին, այն էլ միջնադարում, երբ մարդիկ ավելի պարզ էին ապրում, երբ սևը սև էր, իսկ սպիտակը՝ սպիտակ։ Այն ժամանակ կարիք չկար սևը սպիտակ ներկայացնելու, ինչպես հիմա է։ Ինչքան էլ ցավալի լինի ռոմանտիկների համար, բայց պետք է արձանագրել, որ իրական Ռոբին Հուդը եղել է սովորական թալանչի, որը ոչ մի տարբերություն չի դրել հարուստի և աղքատի միջև, և արդյունքում թալանել է բոլորին հավասարաչափ, էլ ուր մնաց, որ թալանածն էլ աղքատներին բաժանի։ Ուղղակի հարուստներն ավելի շատ ունեին ու շատ էլ թալանվում էին, իսկ աղքատները, դե... Նշենք, որ Ռոբին Հուդի «բարեգործությունների» մասին ոչ մի գրավոր վկայություն գոյություն չունի։

Ընդ որում, արդարության մարտիկ լինելու առաջին առասպելները ծնվել են նրա մահից տարիներ անց։ Ռոբին Հուդի մասին գրքի հեղինակներից Քեմբրիջի համալսարանի միջնադարի պատմության պրոֆեսոր Ջեյմս Հոլստի կարծիքով, Ռոբին Հուդը բոլորովին էլ այնպիսին չի եղել, ինչպես նրան ներկայացնում են։ Նա կրել է եկեղեցականի գլխարկի նման գլխարկ, փող չի բաժանել աղքատներին, ընդ որում՝ ազատության մարտիկ լինելու առասպելը ծագել է նրա մահից երկու հարյուր տարի անց, իսկ ըստ ժամանակակիցների, Ռոբինը եղել է ամենավերջին սրիկա և կողոպտիչ։ Գիտնականները նաև կասկածի տակ են առնում Ռոբին Հուդի և Մերիանի ռոմանտիկ սիրո պատմությունը։ Բանն այն է, որ ըստ Կարդիֆյան համալսարանի գրականության պրոֆեսոր Ստիվեն Նայտի, Ռոբին Հուդը ոչ ավանդական սեռական կողմնորոշում է ունեցել։ Բանն այն է, որ ըստ բանավոր և գրավոր տվյալների, կատարելով հերթական «բարի» գործը, այսինքն՝ թալանելով ինչ-որ մեկին, «հրաշք տղա» Ռոբինը նախընտրում էր գիշերն անցկացնել ոչ թե Մերիանի հետ, այլ ալկոհոլ օգտագործած որևէ գեղեցիկ պատանու տաք գրկում։ Այս դեպքում ինչ սեր կարող էր լինել տղամարդկանց գուրգուրանքը սիրող Մերիանի և նույնը սիրող Ռոբինի միջև։ Ի դեպ, հետաքրքիր է նաև ժողովրդական բանահյուսության այն դիտարկումը, որ Մերիանը կույս էր։ Իրականում այն ժամանակ, եթե աղջիկը կույս էր, ապա դա նշանակում էր, որ արտաքինի պատճառով ոչ ոքի մտքով չի անցել նրան մոտ գալ։ Եվ հետո, այն ժամանակ աղջկան չէին էլ հարցնում, թե արդյոք համաձա՞յն է սեռական մերձեցման։ Ստացվում է, որ Մերիանը կամ շատ տգեղ է եղել, կամ էլ «այնքան էլ» կույս չի եղել։

Ռոբին Հուդի մնացած ընկերները ևս այնպիսին չեն եղել, ինչպիսին նրանց ներկայացրել է ժողովրդական բանահյուսությունը։ Օրինակ՝ Փոքրիկ Ջոն իրականում եղել է ոչ թե բարի տղա, այլ փնթփնթան ու դաժան արարած։ Ինչ վերաբերում է Հայր Տուքին, ապա նա ունեցել է իր սեփական ավազակախումբը և ոչ միայն զբաղվել է հարբեցողությամբ ու թալանով, այլ նաև սնանկացրել և վառել է իր թշնամիների օջախները։ Այստեղ, իհարկե, կարելի է նշել, որ Հայր Տուքի կերպարը ամենաբնորոշն է այն ժամանակների համար՝ հարբեցող հոգևորական, որը նաև թալանում ու սպանում է։
