Մենք գիտենք, որ...

Կանայք տղամարդկանցից շատախոս են: Կանայք օրական միջինը օգտագործում են 20 000 բառ, իսկ տղամարդիկ՝ 7000: Այս մասին գրում են բազմաթիվ գիտահանրամատչելի հրատարակություններ և հեղինակավոր մասնագետներ:

Իրականում այնքան էլ այդպես չէ:

Կատարված հետազոտությունները պարզել են, որ շատախոսությամբ իսկապես կանայք որոշ դեպքերում գերազանցում են տղամարդկանց, բայց որոշ դեպքերում էլ անգամ հակառակն է: Շատախոսությունը կարելի է հաշվարկել մի քանի մեթոդներով. մի մեթոդը՝ մարդկանց հավաքել հատուկ լաբորատոր սենյակում, տալ խոսակցության թեմա և հաշվարկել, հաջորդ մեթոդն է՝ մարդկանց խնդրել, որ ձայնագրեն իրենց ամբողջ օրվա խոսակցությունները տան պայմաններում: Երկու դեպքում էլ հետագայում հաշվարկվում է օրվա ընթացքում արտաբերված բառերի թիվը և որոշվում շատախոսության աստիճանը: Օրինակ՝ հետազոտություն է կատարվել ԱՄՆ-ում՝ 73 երեխաների շրջանում՝ տնային պայմաններում: Պարզվել է, որ աղջիկները աննշան ավելի շատ են խոսում, քան տղաները: Ընդ որում, պարզվել է , որ դա լինում է միայն մեծերի հետ խոսելու ժամանակ, իսկ տարեկիցների հետ խոսելու ընթացքում շատախոսության հավասարություն է: Այսինքն, կարելի է եզրակացնել, որ սա կապված է նրա հետ, որ աղջիկները տղաներից արագ են զարգանում և հետևաբար հարցեր շատ են տալիս: ԱՄՆ-ի Կալիֆորնիայի Սանտա Կրուս քաղաքի համալսարանում իրականացվել է շատախոսության լաբորատոր հետազոտություն մեծահասակների շրջանում: Պարզվել է, որ այստեղ աննշան տարբերությամբ շատախոսությամբ փայլել են տղամարդիկ: Գիտնականները դա բացատրել են նրանով, որ տղամարդիկ  իրենց ավելի կոմֆորտային են զգում օտար միջավայրում և հետևաբար ավելի անկաշկանդ են լինում, քան կանայք:

Լինգվիստ Դեբորի Ջեյմսը և հոգեբան Ջենիս Դրակիչը իրականացրել են շատախոսության 56 հետազոտություն տարբեր վայրերում և իրավիճակներում: Պարզվել է, որ 34 հետազոտության վերջնական արդյունքով շատախոս են տղամարդիկ, իսկ 22 դեպքերում՝ կանայք: Իհարկե, այստեղ կարևոր է, թե ինչ միջավայրերում են սրանք հաշվարկվել: Շատախոսության բազմաթիվ հետազոտություններ է կատարել Տեխասի նահանգի Օստին քաղաքի համալսարանի դասախոս, հոգեբան Ջեյմս Պեննեբեյքերը: Հետազոտություններով նա պարզել է, որ օրվա 17 ժամվա ընթացքում արթուն մնացող ամերիկացի և մեքսիկացի կանայք արտաբերում են միջինը 16 215 բառ, իսկ տղամարդիկ՝ 15 669 բառ: Տարբերությունն աննշան է: Նոր Զելանդիայի Վելլինգտոնի համալսարանի դասախոս Ջանեթ Խոլմսը հաշվարկել է, թե դասախոսությունների ժամանակ ովքեր են ավելի շատ հարցեր տալիս: Պարզվել է, որ հարցերի երեք քառորդը տալիս են տղամարդիկ, այսինքն՝ ավելի շատ են խոսում:

Իսկ որտեղից է գալիս մոլորությունը, որ կանայք ավելի շատախոս են, մասնավորապես ահռելի տարբերությամբ թվերը՝ օրական 20 000 և 7 000 բառ: Առաջին անգամ այս թվերը հայտնվել են 2006 թվականին լույս տեսած ԱՄՆ-ի Սան Ֆրանցիսկոյի համալսարանի նեյրոհոգեբան Լուենն Բրայզենդի «Կանացի ուղեղ» գրքում: Երբ մի այլ գիտնական՝ պրոֆեսոր Մարկ Լիբերմանը, հետաքրքրվել է գրքի հեղինակից , թե որտեղից են վերցված այդ թվերը, վերջինս պատասխանել է, որ մի օգտակար խորհուրդների գրքույկից, և խոստացել է այդ չհիմնավորված թվերը հետագայում հանել իր գրքից: Հետագայում պարզվել է, որ թվերը գրված են 1993 թվականին լույս տեսած՝ ամուսնացողներին օգտակար խորհուրդներ տվող մի բուկլետում: Ով է դրա հեղինակը, անհայտ է:
