Այսօր Մոտոցիկլավարի համաշխարհային օրն է
SOCIETYՄոտոցիկլավարի համաշխարհային օրը նշելու ավանդույթը ծագել է 1992 թվականի հուլիսի 22-ին, երբ միաժամանակ մի քանի երկրներում էնտուզիաստները, թողնելով ավտոմեքենաները ավտոտնակներում, գնացել են աշխատանքի մոտոցիկլետներով եւ սկուտերներով:
2008 թվականից Մոտոցիկլավարի օրը տեղափոխվել էր հունիսի երրորդ երկուշաբթի: Ամսաթվի փոփոխությունն արվել էր ամբողջ աշխարհի մոտոցիկլավարների համար առավել բարենպաստ կլիմայական պայմաններ ընտրելու համար: Իսկ բարենպաստ կլիմայական պայմանները թույլ են տալիս մեծաթիվ մոտոցիկլավարներին մասնակցել ակցիային:
Ի սկզբանե օրը կոչվում էր Ride to Work Day, ինչը անգլերենից թարգմանաբար նշանակում է «Մոտոցիկլետով դեպի աշխատավայր», եւ ավելի ուշ վերանվանվել է՝ դառնալով Մոտոցիկլավարի օր:
Ըստ կազմակերպիչների՝ ակցիայի հիմնական նպատակն է մոտոցիկլավարների իրավունքների մասին բարձրաձայնելը՝ չսահմանափակելով ճանապարհային երթեւեկության մյուս մասնակիցների իրավունքները: Բայքերների շրջանում դա բավականին հաջողվում է: Նրանց օգտին է, օրինակ, այն, որ մոտոցիկլետները նվազեցնում են ճանապարհներին խցանումների ռիսկը, շատ տեղ չեն պահանջում կայանելու համար եւ օգտագործում են քիչ վառելիք, իսկ դա դրական է անդրադառնում շրջակա միջավայրի վրա:
