Կյանքից հեռացել է ամերիկահայ պատմաբան, ցեղասպանագետ Վահագն Տատրյանը

Կյանքի 93-րդ տարում վախճանվել է ամերիկահայ ճանաչված գիտնական, իրավագետ, պատմաբան, սոցիոլոգ, մաթեմատիկոս, սոցիոլոգիայի դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ պատվավոր դոկտոր, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ արտասահմանյան անդամ, Հայոց ցեղասպանության պատմաբան և Զորյան հաստատության Ցեղասպանության ուսումնասիրման գծով տնօրեն Վահագն Տատրյանը (Vahakn Dadrian)։ Այս մասին տեղեկացնում է gagrule.net-ը։
Վահագն Տատրյանը ծնվել է 1926թ. Ստամբուլում։ Ըստ «Վիքիպեդիա»-ի՝ նա ավարտել է Բեռլինի համալսարանի մաթեմատիկայի, Վիեննայի համալսարանի պատմության և Ցյուրիխի համալսարանի միջազգային իրավունքի ֆակուլտետները։ 1970-1991 թթ. սոցիոլոգիա է դասավանդել Նյու Յորքի համալսարանում, միաժամանակ՝ եղել է Հարվարդի համալսարանի Միջին Արևելքի ուսումնասիրությունների և Մասսաչուսեթսի Տեխնոլոգիայի միջազգային ուսումնասիրությունների կենտրոնների ավագ գիտաշխատող։ 1990-ականներին եղել է Հ. Ֆ. Գուգենհայմի ցեղասպանության ուսումնասիրությունների ծրագրի տնօրեն։ 1991 թվականից Զորյան ինստիտուտի (Տորոնտո և Քեմբրիջ) ցեղասպանության հետազոտությունների ծրագրի գիտական տնօրենն էր։
Տատրյանը համեմատական ցեղասպանագիտության հիմնադիրներից է։ Հատկապես արժեքավոր են «Հայկական ցեղասպանությունը խորհրդային և պատմագիտական քննարկումներով» (հայերեն, 1995), «Հայոց ցեղասպանության մեջ գերմանական պատասխանատվությունը։ Պատմական ապացույցի ստուգաբանություն» (անգլերեն, 1996), «Ցեղասպանության երաշխիքը։ Թուրք-հայկական հակամարտության գլխավոր բաղադրատարրեր» (անգլերեն, 1998) մենագրությունները։ Միջազգային իրավունքի համատեքստում հայոց ցեղասպանության վերլուծությանն է նվիրված «Ցեղասպանությունը որպես ազգային և միջազգային իրավունքի հիմնահարց։ Հայկական հարցը Առաջին աշխարհամարտի տարիներին և նրա նկատմամբ ժամանակակից իրավական վերաբերմունքը» (անգլերեն, 1989) աշխատությունը։
Վահագն Տատրյանը պարգևատրվել է ՀՀ Մովսես Խորենացու մեդալով, «Վերիտաս» ոսկե մեդալով (Հարվարդի համալսարան), Ռուսաստանի հայերի միության ոսկե մեդալով, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ոսկե հուշամեդալով, Իտալիայի «Ճշմարիտները հայերի համար» կոմիտեի Ֆրիտյոֆ Նանսենի ոսկե հուամեդալով (Ցեղասպանագետ գիտնականների միջազգային ասոցիացիա), Սուրբ Սահակ Սուրբ Մաշտոց մեդալով, ՀՀ նախագահի ոսկե մեդալով։
