Վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը ցավակցական հեռագիր է հղել Վահագն Տատրյանի մահվան կապակցությամբ:
«Խոր ցավով տեղեկացա ամերիկահայ ականավոր գիտնական, Հայոց ցեղասպանության պատմաբան և Զորյան հաստատության Ցեղասպանության ուսումնասիրման գծով տնօրեն, Հայաստանի Գիտությունների ակադեմիայի պատվավոր դոկտոր Վահագն Տատրյանի մահվան մասին։
Անգնահատելի է պրոֆեսոր Տատրյանի գիտական վաստակը Հայոց ցեղասպանության ուսումնասիրության ոլորտում։ Որպես համեմատական ցեղասպանագիտության հիմնադիր՝ հայազգի անվանի գիտնականը բազում ծանրակշիռ աշխատություններ է գրել Հայոց ցեղասպանության վերաբերյալ, լրջագույն աշխատանք իրականացրել Ցեղասպանության իրավական և փաստագրական կողմերի հետազոտության բնագավառում։ Նրա թողած հարուստ գիտական ժառանգությունը կշարունակի մեծ դերակատարում ունենալ ցեղասպանությունների ճանաչման, դատապարտման և կանխարգելման գործում։
Խորին ցավակցություն եմ հայտնում Վահագն Տատրյանի ընտանիքի անդամներին, հարազատներին, ընկերներին և գործընկերներին։ Նրա հիշատակը և ազգանվեր գործունեությունը վառ կմնա հայ ժողովրդի սրտում»,- ասված է ուղերձում։
