Օգոստոսի 6-ը Հիրոսիմայի օրն է, առավել հայտնի որպես միջուկային զենքի դեմ պայքարի համաշխարհային օր: Այս ամսաթվը հիշեցնում է 1945թ. օգոստոսին տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունները՝ կապված Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի հետ, հաղորդում է Calend-ը:

ԱՄՆ-ում ատոմային ռումբի ստեղծումն ու դրա առաջին փորձարկումը նոր սկիզբ դրեց մարդկության պատմության մեջ: Այդ պահից ի վեր ոչ ոք ապահովագրված չէ նոր զենքի ամենակործան ուժից եւ դրա հետեւանքներից:

1945 թվականի օգոստոսի 6-ին ամերիկյան ավիացիան ռմբակոծության ենթարկեց ճապոնական Հիրոսիմա քաղաքը: Ռմբակոծություն ոչ այդան ռազմական բնույթ էր կրում, որքան նոր զենքի փորձարկում էր համարվում:

Արդյունքը, ինչպես եւ սպասվում էր, կործանիչ էր:  Օգոստոսի 6-ին, ժամը 08:15-ին, 10 000 մ բարձրությունից Հիրոսիմայի վրա ատոմային ռումբ է գցվել: «Փոքրիկ» ռումբը պայթել է 600 մ բարձրության վրա: Մեկ ակնթարթում զոհվել է 80 հազար մարդ, անհետ կորել ավելի քան 12 հազարը, մոտ 40 հազարը վնասվածք ստացել:  Իսկ 3 օր անց ՝ օգոստոսի 9-ին, երկրորդ ռումբը գցվեց Նագասակի քաղաքի վրա: «Գերմարդ» ռումբը գցվեց առավոտյանը ժամը 11:00-ին եւ 73 հազար մարդու կյանք խլեց:

Երկու ռմբակոծությունների արդյունքում տուժեց ավելի քան 300 հազար մարդ, շուրջ 200 հազար մարդ ճառագայթման ենթարկվեց:

Հիրոսիման դարձավ զանգվածային ոչնչացման զենքի դեմ պայքարի խորհրդանիշը:

Ամեն տարի այս օրը աշխարհի շատ երկրներում բազմահազարանոց ցույցեր են անցկացվում միջուկային զենքի դեմ եւ աշխարհում խաղաղության համար:
