Բրիտանական BBC հեռուստաընկերության թղթակիցը մեկնել է Բրազիլիա՝ լուսաբանելու Ամազոնի խոնավ արևադարձային անտառների հրդեհները: Ուղղաթիռից արված կադրերում երևում է, թե ինչպես են անտառների հսկայական տարածքներ այրվում, իսկ որոշ շրջաններ ամբողջությամբ ծխով են պատված:

Ամազոնի խոնավ արևադարձային անտառներում ռեկորդային թվով հրդեհների մասին հաղորդվել էր այս շաբաթ: Հրդեհների թվի ռեկորդային աճի համար քննադատները մեղադրում են երկրի նախագահ Ժայիր Բոլսոնարուին, որը, նրանց խոսքով, չի կանգնեցնում անտառահատումներն ու ֆերմերներին խրախուսում է ընդլայնել իրենց տարածքները:

Երկրի իշխանությունների միջազգային հանրության քննադատություններից հետո զինված ուժերին ուղարկել են հրդեհաշիջման աշխատանքներ իրականացնելու:

Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնն անտառային հրդեհները միջազգային ճգնաժամ է անվանել և մեղադրել Բոլսոնարուին կլիմայի հարցում պարտավորությունները չկատարելու համար:

Եվրախորհրդի նախագահ Դոնալդ Տուսկն իր հերթին հայտարարել է, որ կազմակերպությունը պատրաստ է Բրազիլիային Ամազոնի անտառներում հրդեհները դեմ պայքարի նպատակով ֆինանսական  օժանդակություն ցուցաբերել: Նման պատրաստակամություն է հայտնել նաև ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը:

Ամազոնի խոնավ արևադարձային անտառն աշխարհում ամենամեծն է և կենսական նշանակություն ունի տարբեր գազերի արտանետումների կլանման գործում: Այն նաև աշխարհում դանդաղեցնում է գլոբալ տաքացումը:
