Քսան տարվա ընթացքում ավելի քան 606 հազար մարդ Է զոհվել կլիմայական փոփոխություններից առաջացած բնական աղետների պատճառով, որոնց հետեւանքով պետությունները կորցրել են ընդհանուր առմամբ մինչեւ 6 տրլն դոլար: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, ասված Է այն զեկույցում, որը պատրաստվել Է տարերային աղետների վտանգի նվազեցման ՄԱԿ-ի գրասենյակի կողմից:
«Եղանային պայմանները եւ կլիման վտանգների հիմնական պատճառներն են տարերային աղետների ժամանակ, եւ այս զեկույցը ցույց Է տալիս, որ աշխարհը դրա համար մարդկային կյանքերի բարձր գին Է վճարում: Տնտեսական կորուստները հիմնական մարտահրավերներն են նվազ զարգացած շատ երկրների աճի համար, որոնք փորձում են պայքարել կլիմայի փոփոխության եւ աղքատության դեմ»,- հայտարարել Է ՄԱԿ-ի՝ տարերային աղետների վտանգի նվազեցման հարցերով հատուկ ներկայացուցիչ Մարգարետա Վալսթրեմը՝ ներկայացնելով զեկույցը:
Ըստ ՄԱԿ-ի գրասենյակի տվյալների, բոլոր խոշոր աղետների 90 տոկոսից ավելին, որոնք տեղի են ունեցել վերջին քսան տարվա ընթացքում, պայմանավորված են եղել օդերեւութաբանական եւ բնական կատակլիզմներով: 1995 թվականից ի վեր կլիմայական փոփոխություններից առաջացած տարերային աղետների պատճառով զոհվել Է 606 հազար մարդ, իսկ շուրջ 4,1 միլարդ բնակիչներ վիրավորվել են, հայտնվել են աղետալի վիճակում կամ հարկադրված են եղել լքել իրենց տները: Բնական կատակլիզմներից առավել շատ տուժում են Միացյալ Նահանգները, որտեղ տեղի Է ունեցել նման 472 դեպք, Չինաստանում (441), ՀնդկաստանուÕ ´ (288), Ֆիլիպիններում (274) եւ Ինդոնեզիայում (163), հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
