Հասկանալի է, որ թուրքական մամուլը բաց չէր թողնելու առիթը Պոլսի նորընտիր պատրիարքին «հարկադրելու» դատապարտել ԱՄՆ Սենատի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության դատապարտման որոշումը:

Պոլսի հայոց պատրիարքներն ստիպված են եղել դատապարտել Ֆրանց Վերֆելին՝ Մուսա Լեռան հայերի դիմադրության մասին «ստահոդ գիրք» գրելու համար, ողջունել «վիրավորված թուրք ժողովրդի կողմից» այդ Վերֆելի գրքի այրումը, ողջունել Ալեքսանդրեթի Սանջակը «բարեխնամ թուրք կառավարությանը» միացնելու ակտը և այդ՝ նաև Սանջակում հաստատված փախստական կիլիկիահայության անունից, գնալ Ցեղասպանության ճանաչումն ընդունող երկրներ և այնտեղ դատապարտել նրանց այդ «անխոհեմ» որոշումները, ծաղկեպսակներով «պատվել» Մուստաֆա Քեմալին և այլն: Պոլսահայ համայնքի պատրիարքները նախապես գիտեն իրենց այս պարտավորությունը և պատրաստ են դրան:

Նոր պատրիարքն իր սույն պարտավորության կատարման համար ԱՄՆ Սենատի կողմից Ցեղասպանության դատապարտման որոշումն անվանել է «անբարոյական քայլ, քանի որ այն ուղղված է Թուրքիային Հայկական հարցի շուրջ անկյուն քշելուն», բայց ավելացրել է, որ «Երբ երկու կողմերը չեն կարող խոսել, խոսելու իրավունքի են հավակնում երրորդ կողմերը, չորրորդ կողմերը, նրանք, ովքեր արտասահմանում են:

Այդ բոլոր հարցերը մենք պետք է լուծենք։ Բայց քանի որ դա հետաձգվում է, այն օգտագործվում է որպես լծակ Թուրքիայի վրա ճնշում գործադրելու համար»: Սա պարտավորության կատարման հնարավոր տարբերակներից թերևս առավել ընդունելին է, քանի դեռ Թուրքիան պատրաստ չէ Ցեղասպանության հարցը, որը պատրիարքը դիվանագիտորեն անվանել է «տառապանք, որ տեղի է ունեցել այս հողերում 100 տարի առաջ», քննարկել հենց կենդանի մնացած հայերի ժառանգների հետ, պետք է պատրաստ լինի այս կարգի քաղաքական ճնշումների:

Մենք էլ ենք ասում, որ ԱՄՆ-ն այս որոշումն ընդունել է ոչ թե արդարության վերականգնման, այլ Թուրքիային ճնշելու համար, և այս իմաստով նորընտիր պատրիարքը մեր ընդհանուր պատկերացումների ծիրում է: Հաշվի առնելով թուրքահայ համայնքի խոցելիությունը՝ թվում է, որ նորընտիր պատրիարքը կարողացել է ինչ-որ բանաձև գտնել թուրքական իշխանությունների հետ հարաբերությունների թույլատրելի սահմանը գծելու՝ «ոչինչ չկա, որ ուղղակիորեն վերաբերում է մեզ, որում մենք պետք է ներգրավված լինենք»: Ըստ էության՝ պատրիարքն առաջարկում է պատրիարքարանը և թուրքահայ համայնքը չներքաշել թուրքական իշխանությունների հնարավոր գործողությունների ծրագրերի մեջ»:
