Ավստրալիայում ավելի քան 1 մլրդ կենդանի է ոչնչացել անտառային հրդեհների հետեւանքով

Ավստրալիայում ավելի քան 1 միլիարդ կենդանի է ոչնչացել ընդգրկուն անտառային հրդեհների հետեւանքով: Վայրի բնության կորուստների ճշտված գնահատումը հունվարի լույս 9-ի գիշերը հրապարակել է Սիդնեյի համալսարանի մամուլի ծառայությունը, որի գիտնականներից մեկը ղեկավարել է հետազոտությունը:
«Պրոֆեսոր Քրիս Դիքմանը վերանայել է այն կենդանիների քանակի գնահատումը, որոնք անտառային հրդեհներից ոչնչացել են Նոր Հարավային Ուելսում՝ Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի նահանգում կորուստների հնարավոր չափը 480 միլիոնից ավելացնելով մինչեւ 800 միլիոն: Սպասվում է, որ համազգային մակարդակով անտառային հրդեհներից վայրի բնության կորուստները կկազմեն մեկ միլիարդից ավելի»,- ասված է մամուլի ծառայության հաղորդագրության մեջ:
Ավստրալիայում Վայրի բնության համաշխարհային ֆոնդի բաժանմունքը (WWF Australia), հիմնվելով Քրիս Դիքմանի հետազոտության վրա, հրդեհների հետեւանքով սատկած կենդանիների թիվը գնահատում է 1,25 միլիարդ առանձնյակ: «WWF Australia-ի գնահատումներով՝ շուրջ 1,25 միլիարդ կենդանի ուղղակիորեն եւ անուղղակիորեն դարձել է անտառային հրդեհների զոհ, որոնք 8,4 միլիոն հեկտար անտառ են ոչնչացրել ամբողջ Ավստրալիայում: Այդ սոսկալի կորուստը ներառում է հազարավոր թանկարժեք կոալաներ Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի նահանգի կենտրոնական եւ հյուսիսային ծովեզերքին, ինչպես նաեւ շատ այլ հազվագյուտ տեսակներ»,- ասված է ֆոնդի բաժանմունքի ղեկավար Դերմոթ Օ’Գորմանի հայտարարության մեջ, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
