Այսօր ՀՀ 13-րդ վարչապետ Հովիկ Աբրահամյանի ծննդյան օրն է

1996 թվականից մինչև 1998 թվականը եղել է Արտաշատի համայնքապետը։
1998 թվականին Հովիկ Աբրահամյանը նշանակվել է Արարատի մարզպետ։
2000 թվականին նշանակվել է Քաղաքաշինական գործունեության և տարածքային վարչության կենտրոնացման գծով նախարար։
Հովիկ Աբրահամյանը որպես՝ նոր գերատեսչության ղեկավար, ընդգրկվել է Հայաստանի Անվտանգության խորհրդի կազմը։ Նրան են տրվել նաև տասը մարզերի և Երևան քաղաքի տեղական ինքնակառավարման մարմինների ղեկավարների գործունեության անմիջական վերահսկողության իրականացման պարտականությունները։
2000-2008 թվականներին Հովիկ Աբրահամյանը եղել է Տարածքային կառավարման նախարար։
2007-2008 թվականներին զբաղեցրել է ՀՀ փոխվարչապետի պաշտոնը։
2008 թվականի ապրիլի 21-ին ՀՀ Նախագահի հրամանագրի համաձայն՝ նշանակվել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահի աշխատակազմի ղեկավար։
2008թ. սեպտեմբերին Հովիկ Աբրահամյանն ընտրվել է Ազգային Ժողովի նախագահ, հրաժարական տվել 2011թ. նոյեմբերին:
2012թ. մայիսի 31-ին կրկին ընտրվել է ԱԺ նախագահ:
2014 թվականի ապրիլի 13-ին նշանակվել է ՀՀ վարչապետ, 2016-ի սեպտեմբերին՝ հրաժարական է ներկայացրել:
