ՄԱԿ-ի մարդու իրավունքների գրասենյակը Բաքվին կոչ է արել երկրում ակտիվացնել արտահայտվելու եւ միավորվելու ազատություններ ապահովելու գծով ջանքերը՝ մտահոգություն հայտնելով Ադրբեջանում «գնալով նեղացող դեմոկրատական տարածության» առնչությամբ, որտեղ իրավապաշտպանները, լրագրողներն ու քննադատները ավելի հաճախ են զրկվում ազատությունից,:

Այս մասին ասվում է ՄԱԿ-ի մամուլի կենտրոնի ծանուցագրում:

«Այդ դեպքերը վկայում են Ադրբեջանում դեմոկրատական տարածության նեղացման մասին, որտեղ քաղաքացիական հասարակության բազմաթիվ անդամներ, լրագրողներ եւ իրավաբաններ իրենց աշխատանքի համար վախենում են բռնաճնշումներից կամ իրավական եւ վարչական խոչընդոտներից»,- հայտարարել է ՄԱԿ-ի մարդու իրավունքների Գերագույն հանձնակատարի վարչության ներկայացուցիչ Ռուպերտ Կոլվիլը անցյալ շաբաթ Ժնեւում տեղի ունեցած մամուլի ասուլիսում:

Նա հավելել է, որ Բաքվում Եվրոպական խաղերի անցկացման շեմին որոշ ԶԼՄ-ների փակումը եւ որոշ լրագրողների եւ միջազգային իրավապաշտպան կազմակերպությունների ներկայացուցիչների երկրից ելքը արգելելու դեպքերը հանդիսացել են «այդ մեծ խնդրի հայտանիշներից մեկը»: 

Դրա հետ կապված` մարդու իրավունքների գծով գերագույն հանձնակատար Զեյդ Ռաադ ալ Հուսեյնը ադրբեջանական իշխանությունների հետ քննարկել է այն անձանց ճակատագրի հարցը, որոնք առողջական լուրջ խնդիրներ ունեն եւ պետք է ազատ արձակվեն մարդասիրական նկատառումներով:

ՄԱԿ-ի ներկայացուցիչը պահանջել է ազատ արձակել նաեւ մնացած ձերբակալվածներին՝ սեփական իրավունքներն իրենց կողմից իրագործելու համար:

«Ստիպողական անհրաժեշտություն կա մեղմացնել օրենսդրական եւ վարչական պահանջները, որոնք վերաբերվում են քաղաքացիական հասարակության կազմակերպմանը»,- ընդգծել է Կոլվիլը՝ հավելելով, որ տեղական եւ միջազգային ոչ կառավարական կազմակերպությունները պետք է հնարավորություն ունենան վերահսկել մարդու իրավունքների հետ կապված ներքին իրավիճակը, ինչպես նաեւ համագործակցել իրավապաշտպանների հետ` չվախենալով բռնաճնշումներից:

Համառորեն կոչ անելով Ադրբեջանի կառավարությանը ապահովել այդ գործընթացները եւ կանխել մեղադրյալների իրավունքների խախտումները՝ ՄԱԿ-ն ընդգծում է անկախ եւ հաշվետու արդարադատություն ապահովելու եւ մարդու իրավունքների ոլորտում միջազգային պարտավորություններն ամբողջությամբ հարգելու անհրաժեշտությունը:

Ողջունելով Ադրբեջանում սոցիալական եւ տնտեսական հարցերում եւ վերաբնակների հետ աշխատանքում ձեռք բերված առաջընթացը՝ ՄԱԿ-ի մարդու իրավունքների գրասենյակը ադրբեջանական իշխանություններին նաեւ կոչ է արել «նման ուշադրություն հատկացնել նաեւ օրենքի գերակայության նկատմամբ հարգանքը ապահովելու համար եւ շտապ կերպով վերանայել բոլոր դեպքերը, երբ մարդիկ ազատությունից զրկվել են այլ կարծիքներ արտահայտելու համար»:
