Ինչպես հայտնում է The Daily Mail-ը, մարդու քթի խոռոչներում բջիջներ կան, որոնք պատասխանատու են լորձի արտադրման համար, եւ դրանք երկու պրոտեին ունեն, որոնք COVID-19-ին անհրաժեշտ են բջջի մեջ թափանցելու համար, ինչը դրանք վիրուսի հանդեպ առանձնապես խոցելի է դարձնում:
Հետազոտողները նաեւ պարզել են, որ նոր կորոնավիրուսը ձեռք է բերել նոր գծեր եւ այժմ կարող է ազդել ինտերֆերոնների վրա, որոնք օրգանիզմն արտադրում է վիրուսային ինֆեկցիաների դեմ պայքարելու համար:
Գիտնականների կարծիքով՝ այս հայտնագործությունները կօգնեն COVID-19-ի դեմ պատվաստանյութի մշակումն ուղղել անհրաժեշտ հուն կամ որոշել, թե գոյություն ունեցող միջոցներից որն է կարելի ադապտացնել դրա բուժման համար:
