Ռուսաստանը պատրաստվում է Սիրիայում բացել երկրորդ ռազմաբազան: Այդ մասին հաղորդում է բրիտանական The Times թերթը:

Վերջինի տվյալներով, ՌԴ-ն մտադիր է այդ ռազմաբազա ուղարկել լրացուցիչ ռազմական ինքնաթիռներ և զորք: «Մոտավորապես, մեկ ամիս առաջ Հոմսին մոտ գտնվող «Աշ-Շայրաթ» ավիաբազա, որտեղ արդեն դիրքավորվել են ռուսական ռազմական ինքնաթիռներն ու աջակցության խումբը, նոր սարքավորումներ են մատակարարվել»,- The Times-ին տեղեկացրել է տեղի բնակիչներից մեկը:

«Մոտավորապես 50-60 ռուս զինվոր է տեղակայվել այնտեղ, նրանք ապահովված են բնակության համար անհրաժեշտ միջոցներով, միաժամանակ, նրանցից մի քանիսն ապրում են Հոմսում, որը մի փոքր է հեռու օդանավակայանից: Որքան ես գիտեմ, այնտեղ է տեղակայվել 10 ռազմական ինքնաթիռ և 15 ուղղաթիռ, որոնք հարվածներ են հասցնում Հոմսի արևելյան հատվածի ուղղությամբ»,- ասել է թերթի զրուցակիցը:       

«Նոր ռազմաբազայի շնորհիվ ռուսական ավիացիոն խմբավորումը Սիրիայում կարող է ավելացվել մինչև 50 ինքնաթիռով, բազայի շրջակայքում կարող են տեղակայվել հատուկ ծառայությունների, հետախուզության և թիկունքային աջակցության շուրջ 1000 զինծառայողներ»,- գրել է թերթը` վկայակոչելով մերձավոր Արևելքում իր աղբյուրը:   

Ներկա դրությամբ ռուսական ավիախումբը, որն օպերացիա է իրականացնում «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման դեմ, տեղակայված է Լաթաքիայի «Հմեյմիմ» օդանավակայանում:
