ՀԱՆՐԱՀԱՅՏ ՄՈԼՈՐՈՒԹՅՈՒՆՆԵՐՅուրաքանչյուր անձ օրական մի քանի անգամ օճառ է օգտագործում և չի էլ մտածում, թե որքան հին է այդ գյուտը: Օճառի ստեղծման պատմությունն սկսվել է Հին Բաբելոնում (մ.թ.ա. 3-րդ հազարամյակ): Դա ապացուցվում է հնագիտական պեղումներով: Հին բաբելոնացիների օճառի մեջ ենթադրաբար եղել է կասիայի յուղ, ջուր և հիմնային նյութ: Կան նաև ապացույցներ այն մասին, որ հին եգիպտացիները լոգանք են ընդունել նման միջոցներով:
Եգիպտոսի օճառը որոշ չափով տարբերվել է բաբելոնյան օճառից, քանի որ ալկալային աղերից բացի, այն իր մեջ ներառել է կենդանական և բուսական ծագման բաղադրիչներ: Արաբական աշխարհը նույնպես օգտագործել է այդ հիգիենայի պարագան:
Այնտեղ այն պատրաստել են բուսական յուղերից, օրինակ՝ ձիթապտղից, և որպեսզի օճառը հաճելի հոտ ունենա, դրան ավելացրել են անուշաբույր յուղեր: Արդեն 7-րդ դարի սկզբին օճառ արտադրել են ժամանակակից Իրաքի և Պաղեստինի տարածքներում: Առանձին հարկ է նշել արաբական օճառի գյուտը, որը համարվում է ժամանակակից օճառի նախատիպը: Այն հանրահայտ է եղել իր բույրերի հարստությամբ: Ավելին, արաբական
օճառը պատրաստվել է ինչպես հեղուկ, այնպես էլ պինդ տեսքով: Բացի այդ, հին արաբները օգտագործել են հատուկ սափրվելու օճառ, որը կարելի էր ձեռք բերել ցանկացած շուկայում: Այն արժեցել է երեք դրահմա:
Արաբական օճառի ծագման և դրա բաղադրատոմսերի պատմությունը մեզ է հասել Ալ-Ռազիի ձեռագրերի շնորհիվ, որը մանրամասն նկարագրել է դրա ստեղծման գործընթացը: Հին ժամանակներում օճառի պատրաստումը համարվել է վտանգավոր արտադրություն:
Բացի կենդանական ճարպերից, այն պարունակել է շատ թունավոր հիմք, որի հետ ոչ պատշաճ շփումը հանգեցրել է քիմիական այրվածքների և նույնիսկ տեսողության կորստի: Միայն 16- րդ դարում է Եվրոպայում արտադրվել հայտնի կաստիլյան օճառը, որի բաղադրության 90 տոկոսը կազմել է ձիթայուղը:
19-րդ դարի վերջում օճառի պատմության վրա մեծապես ազդել են Եվրոպայում և Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգներում ձեռնարկատերերի կողմից իրականացվող լայնածավալ գովազդային արշավները: Սա զգալիորեն նպաստել է, որ օճառը մտնի մարդկանց կյանքի մեջ՝ որպես անփոխարինելի մասնիկ:
Հետագայում՝ 20-րդ դարի կեսերից օճառը հասանելի է դարձել ամբողջ հանրությանը, և անգամ ներկայումս էլ հիգիենայի թիվ մեկ արտադրանքն է:
