Եվրամիության երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարները Բրյուսելում հանդիպել են Բելառուսի ընդդիմության լիդեր Սվետլանա Տիխանովսկայային:
Եվրամիությունը քննարկում է Բելառուսի տասնյակ ղեկավարների նկատմամբ նոր պատժամիջոցներ սահմանելու խնդիրը, չի բացառվում, որ արգելափակումներ կիրառվեն անձամբ նախագահ Ալեքսանդր Լուկաշենկոյի նկատմամբ:
Բելառուսում վեց շաբաթ շարունակ բողոքի ցույցեր են: Օգոստոսի 9-ին տեղի ունեցած նախագահական ընտրություններում, ըստ պաշտոնական տվյալների, հաղթել է գործող նախագահը: Տիխանովսյական, ով ընտրություններից հետո ապաստանել է Լիտվայում, ըստ ԿԸՀ-ի, երկրորդ տեղն է գրավել:
Բելառուսում վիճահարույց ընտրություններից հետո տեղի ունեցող բողոքի բազմամարդ ակցիաների հազարավոր մասնակիցներ ձերբակալվել են, ցուցարարների, այդ թվում` կանանց նկատմամբ իրավապահները բիրտ ուժ են կիրառել: Զոհվել է առնվազն երեք մարդ:
Արևմտյան երկրները չեն ճանաչում Լուկաշենկոյի հաղթանակը: Բելառուսի ղեկավարը 26 տարի է իշխում, նա պնդում է, թե բողոքի շարժումը ղեկավարվում է Բելառուսը կազմաքանդելու նպատակ հետապնդող արևմտյան երկրների կողմից: Ռուսաստանը սատարում է Լուկաշենկոյին:
Եվրոպական միության արտաքին քաղաքականության և անվտանգության հարցերով բարձր ներկայացուցիչ Ժոզեպ Բորելը Տիխանովսկայայի հետ հանդիպումից հետո ասել է, որ «արտգործնախարարները շատ տպավորված են բելառուս ժողովրդի ու հատկապես կանանց խիզախությամբ, նրանք իսկական լիդերություն են դրսևորում»:
Բորելը նաև հերքել է Մինսկի և Մոսկվայի պնդումներն այն մասին, թե Եվրամիությունն իբր միջամտում է Բելառուսի ներքին գործերին:
«Դեմոկրատիան և մարդու իրավունքները Եվրամիության հիմնարար արժեքներ են, և ինքնությունը, դրանց պաշտպանությունը չի կարող դիտվել որպես միջամտություն»,- ասել է Ժոզեպ Բորելը:
