Հիշու՞մ եք հեռախոսները, որոնցում պտտվող սկավառակով էին համարներ հավաքում: Մեր ժամանակներում նման հեռախոսների հանդիպելը գործնականում արդեն դժվար է, դրանք ամբողջովին փոխարինվել են համարի ստեղնաշարային հավաքման հեռախոսներով: Պատմությունից բոլորը գիտեն, որ ի սկզբանե հեռախոսի գյուտից հետո անգամ համարի սկավառակային հավաքմամբ հեռախոսներ չեն եղել, չեն եղել նաև ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայաններ, այլ եղել են, այսպես կոչված, կոմուտատորային հեռախոսակայաններ, որտեղ հեռախոսավարուհիները կապ են ապահովել աբոնենտների միջև: Նշենք, որ ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայանների և պտտվող սկավառակով համարների հավաքմամբ հեռախոսների գյուտը հետաքրքիր պատմություն է: Առաջին անձը, որը արտոնագիր է ստացել այնպիսի հեռախոսի համար, որի վրա կարելի էր համար հավաքել, եղել է Էլմոն Սթրոուջերը 1891 թվականին:

Նա նաև արտոնագրել է այդ հեռախոսի համար նախատեսված ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայանը: ԱՄՆ-ի Կանզաս Սիթիում բնակվող Էլմոնը ոչ մի կապ չի ունեցել ինչպես հեռախոսակապի, այնպես էլ տեխնիկայի և գյուտարարության հետ: Նա ընդամենը սգո ծառայություններ է մատուցել: Նա ունեցել է անմիջական մրցակից, որը ևս իր թաղման ընկերությունն ուներ, իսկ այդ մրցակցի կինը աշխատում էր հեռախոսակայանում որպես հեռախոսավարուհի: Այդ ամենի պատճառով Սթրոուջերը մշտական կորուստներ էր կրում: Հաճախորդներին, որոնք փորձում էին կապվել նրա հետ և պատվեր տալ, հեռախոսի օպերատորը կապում էր մրցակցի, ավելի կոնկրետ՝ իր ամուսնու հետ: Այդ ամենից զայրացած Էլմոնը խոստանում է, որ կազատի բոլորին հեռախոսային օպերատորներից: Արդյունքում նա մշակում է մի համակարգ, որի շնորհիվ յուրաքանչյուր ոք, ով զանգահարում է հեռախոսով, կարող է միջնորդ օպերատորներից անկախ միանալ ցանկալի բաժանորդին:

Սթրոուջերը իր ստեղծած ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայանին տվել է «Հեռախոս առանց երիտասարդ տիկնանց և հայհոյանքների» անվանումը, որն իր աշխատանքն է սկսել 1892 թվականից: Ի դեպ, Էլմոն Սթրոուջերն է նաև ստեղծել համարների պտտվող սկավառակով հավաքմամբ հեռախոսը: Նման կերպ սգո արարողությունների շուկայում մրցակցությունը Էլմոն Սթրոուջերին դարձրել է հանրահայտ մարդ, որպես ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայանի և սկավառակային ձևով համարների հավաքմամբ հեռախոսի գյուտարար: Ի դեպ, ավտոմատ հեռախոսակայանի գործարկմամբ նրան նաև հաջողվել է հետ բերել իր հաճախորդներին, իսկ մրցակցի կինը կորցրել է աշխատանքը:

Ժամանակն առաջ է շարժվում, այսօր սկավառակով հեռախոսներն արդեն պատմություն են: Այժմ բոլորը գրպանում ունեն իրենց հեռախոսը, և նրանցից շատերն անգամ արդեն ստեղնաշար էլ չունեն: Սթրոուջերի օրոք ոչ ոք չէր էլ կարող մտածել, որ կգա այնպիսի ժամանակ, որ հեռախոսը մարդու հետ կլինի ամենուր, իսկ անհրաժեշտ համար հավաքելը հնարավոր կլինի ընդամենը մատի մի հպումով, կամ էլ, առավել ևս, անհրաժեշտ մարդու անունը հեռախոսին ասելով:
