«Հրապարակ» թերթը գրում է.
«ՊԵԿ նախկին նախագահ, ֆինանսների նախկին նախարար Գագիկ Խաչատրյանը երեկ գրավի դիմաց ազատ արձակվեց։ Մենք այս որոշումը կայացրած, գործով նախագահող դատավոր, Երեւանի դատարանի նախագահ Արթուր Մկրտչյանի աշխատակազմից փորձեցինք ճշտել, թե որքան գրավի դիմաց է Խաչատրյանն ազատ արձակվել, սակայն, զարմանալիորեն, մեզ փոխանցեցին, որ չեն կարող տեղեկատվություն տրամադրել։
Փաստաբանական թիմն էլ չպատասխանեց մեր զանգերին, Երեմ Սարգսյանը Խաչատրյանի ազատման լուրը հայտնելու մասին գրառման մեջ նշել էր, որ այլ մեկնաբանություններ նրա ազատման վերաբերյալ չեն ներկայացնելու։ Քաղաքական շրջանակներում, մինչդեռ, երեկ խոսում էին, որ իշխանությունը լավ վիճակից չէ, որ ազատ է արձակել Խաչատրյանին․ բանն այն է, որ նախկին նախարարը ՌԴ վարչապետ Միխայիլ Միշուստինի մտերիմն է, ով, ըստ մամուլի, ամիսներ առաջ բարեխոսել էր Փաշինյանի մոտ՝ իր ընկերոջ հարցով։
Հիմա հույս ունեն, որ Գագիկ Խաչատրյանը գործի կդնի իր կապերը պատերազմական այս իրավիճակում՝ Ռուսաստանի հետ հարաբերությունները կարգավորելու համար։ Գագիկ Խաչատրյանը, հիշեցնենք, մեղադրվում է անզգուշությամբ ծանր հետեւանքներ առաջացնելով՝ պաշտոնեական լիազորությունները չարաշահելու, առանձնապես խոշոր չափի յուրացման, դրա կազմակերպման, դրդման կամ օժանդակության, առանձնապես խոշոր չափերով կաշառք ստանալու, պաշտոնեական կեղծիքի, փողերի լվացման կազմակերպման, դրդման կամ օժանդակության համար։
Նա առաջադրված մեղադրանքը չի ընդունում, իսկ մամուլում լուրեր են հրապարակվել, որ նրան բանտում պահելու պատճառը բացառապես այն է, որ իշխանությունների պահանջած աստղաբաշխական «փրկագինը» չի վճարում»:
