Թուրքիայի հանդեպ միջազգային դժգոհությունը հասել է գագաթնակետին։ Թուրքիան շարունակում է օկուպացնել Կիպրոսի մեկ երրորդը և, տեղափոխվելով Վարոշա, այնտեղ վերսկսել է էթնիկ զտումները։ Սիրիայի հյուսիսում թուրքական «խաղաղ միջանցքը» վերածվել է էթնիկ զտումների, առևանգումների և մղձավանջի, որտեղ «Իսլամական պետության» գրոհայինները շրջում են թուրք զինվորների կողքին, գրում է հունական Kathimerini թերթը։

Հոդվածագիր Մայքլ Ռուբինը նշում է, որ մինչ Միջերկրական ծովի արևելյան մասում Թուրքիան առաջնորդվում է տնտեսական շահերով, Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտությանը մասնակցությունն ակնհայտորեն ցույց է տալիս, որ էրդողանն այդ տարածաշրջանում գործում է կրոնական թշնամանքից ելնելով։

«Դիվանագիտական դեմարշները քիչ ազդեցություն կունենան Էրդողանի գործելակերպի վրա։ Երբ ամերիկյան և եվրոպական առաջնորդները հակադարձում են նրա խոսքերին, նա դրանցում լրջության բացակայություն է տեսնում և շարունակում է իր ագրեսիան։ Միայն այն ժամանակ, երբ ամերիկյան կամ եվրոպական առաջնորդները պատժամիջոցներ են սահմանում, նա լսում է»,- գրում է հոդվածագիրը՝ ընդգծելով, որ Էրդողանին զսպելու միակ ճանապարհը պատժամիջոցների սահմանումն է։

Հոդվածագրի խոսքով՝ հարցն այն է, որ Եվրոպան Թուրքիայի դեմ պատժամիջոցներ կիրառելու կամք դեռևս չի դրևորել և Եվրամիության առնվազն հինգ անդամ պետություններ հրաժարվել են ընդունել Հունաստանի վարչապետ Կիրիակոս Միցոտակիսի՝ Թուրքիային զենք մատակարարելու էմբարգո սահմանելու վերաբերյալ առաջարկը։

«Այն, որ որոշ եվրոպական առաջնորդներ մերկանտիլ շահերն ավելի բարձր են դասում մարդու իրավունքներից ու խաղաղարարությունից, նոր չէ հայտնի։ Սակայն եվրոպացի առաջնորդները դեռ կարող են ճնշում գործադրել Թուրքիայի վրա ՝ չխախտելով սեփական գործարար շահերը»,- ընդգծում է հոդվածի հեղինակը՝ եվրոպական առաջորդներին կոչ անելով հռետորաբանությունից անցնել հստակ գործողությունների։

Ռուբինը նշում է, որ «ներկա և նախկին շատ պաշտոնյաներ Էրդողանին թույլ են տվել հավատալ, որ նա ավելի շատ լծակներ ունի ԵՄ-ի վրա, քան հակառակը։ Արևելյան Միջերկրածովյան տարածաշրջանում և Թուրքիայի սահմանի երկայնքով խաղաղություն և կայունություն չի լինի, քանի դեռ եվրոպացիները չեն կարողացել նրան հակառակը հասկացնել»։
