Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը ողբերգություն է անվանել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում տիրող իրավիճակը: Ինչպես հայտնում է ТАСС գործակալությունը, այս մասին քահանայապետն ասել է Սուրբ Պետրոսի հրապարակում կայացած կիրակնօրյա ելույթի ժամանակ:
«Բոլոր սրբերի այս օրը (կաթոլիկները նշում են նոյեմբերի 1-ին–խմբ.) չմոռանանք Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում տեղի ունեցողի մասին, որտեղ զինված հակամարտություն է ընթանում՝ ընդհատվելով կարճատև հրադադարներով: Ավելի ու ավելի մեծ ավերածությունների են ենթարկվում տները, ենթակառուցվածքները, մշակութային կառույցները: Ռազմական գործողություններն ավելի ու ավելի շատ են խոցում քաղաքացիական բնակչությանը: Դա ողբերգություն է»,- ասել է Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը:
Վերջինս կոչ է արել հակամարտող կողմերին հրաժարվել ռազմական միջոցներից, որոնք հանգեցնում են նրան, որ «անմեղների արյունն է հոսում»: «Ցանկանում եմ կրկին դիմել պատասխանատու կողմերին՝ կոչ անելով անել ամեն հնարավորը անմեղների արյունահեղությունը դադարեցնելու համար: Չի կարելի մտածել, որ վեճը կարելի է լուծել բռնի մեթոդների դիմելով, այլ միայն բանակցություններով՝ միջազգային հանրության աջակցությամբ: Համերաշխություն եմ հայտնում բոլոր տառապողներին և աղոթում եմ բոլոր սրբերին՝ վերադարձնել տարածաշրջանի խաղաղությունը»,- հավելել է քահանայապետը:
