Ամերիկացի սենատորները մտադիր են արգելափակել զենքի վաճառքն Արաբական Միացյալ Էմիրություններին:
Այդ հարցով համատեղ բանաձեւեր են ներկայացվել մեկ շաբաթ անց այն բանից հետո, երբ Պետդեպարտամենտը Կոնգրեսին հայտնեց ԱՄԷ-ին 23 մլրդ դոլարի չափով սպառազինություն վաճառելու ԱՄՆ կառավարության մտադրության մասին: Ավելի վաղ այս տարի ԱՄԷ-ն խաղաղ համաձայնագիր կնքեց Իսրայելի հետ եւ պարտավորվեց կարգավորել այդ երկրի հետ հարաբերությունները:
Բանաձեւերը ներկայացրել են դեմոկրատ սենատոր Ռոբերտ Մենենդեսը Նյու Ջերսիից, Քրիս Մերֆին Կոնեկտիկուտից եւ հանրապետական Ռենդ Փոլը:
Սենատորները պնդում են, որ Թրամփի վարչակազմը շրջանցել է արտասահմանյան պետություններին զենքի վաճառքի ստանդարտ արձանագրությունը, որը ներառում է Կոնգրեսում ստուգման փուլ: Նրանք նաեւ հայտնել են, որ վարչակազմը չի պատասխանել իրենց հարցերին այն մասին, թե ինչպես է ԱՄՆ-ն «պայքարելու ազգային անվտանգության կոնկրետ ռիսկերի դեմ», որոնք բնորոշ են զենքերի ենթադրյալ վաճառքին, ներառյալ՝ F-35 հիսուն ինքնաթիռներ, հրթիռների մեծ պաշար եւ Reaper 18 անօաչուներ:
