 Միացյալ Նահանգներն անընդունելի է համարել ղարաբաղա-ադրբեջանական շփման գծում վերջին օրերին ուժեղացած լարվածությունն ու ծանր տեխնիկայի կիրառումը: Այս մասին լրագրողների հետ ամենօրյա ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ ասել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի խոսնակ Ջոն Քիրբին, ով համահավասարեցնող հերթական հայտարարությունն է արել՝ հորդորելով հայկական ու ադրբեջանական կողմերին խստորեն պահպանել հրադադարի ռեժիմը:

«Մենք կողմերին հիշեցնում ենք, որ այս հարձակումները չեն համապատասխանում հիմնախնդիրը խաղաղ ճանապարհով լուծելու Հայաստանի ու Ադրբեջանի նախագահների հանձնառությանը: Այս ամիս ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահները գագաթնաժողով կկազմակերպեն նախագահների մասնակցությամբ: Մենք հորդորում ենք կողմերին ձեռնարկել բոլոր քայլերը՝ խուսափելու բռնությունից և բարելավելու մթնոլորտը բանակցությունների համար»,- նշել է Քիրբին՝ ցավակցություն հայտնելով այն ընտանիքներին, ովքեր սահմանային վերջին միջադեպերի հետևանքով ունեցել են կորուստներ:

Լրագրողներից մեկի այն հարցին, թե արդյոք Հայաստանի ու Ադրբեջանի միջև լարվածությանը նպաստել է թուրք-ռուսական հարաբերությունների սրումը՝ Քիրբին ընդգծել է, որ իրենց անհնագստացնում է իրադրության լարումը, այլ ոչ թե դրա սկզբնաղբյուրը: «Ակնհայտ է, որ երկու դեպքում էլ մենք ցանկանում ենք իրադրության լարվածության թոթափում, և որ գերակշռեն սառը դատողությունները: Մենք անհանգստացած ենք բռնության դեպքերով և, բնականաբար, շարունակելու ենք մոնիթորինգը՝ հետևելով Ռուսաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև հարաբերություններին»,- ասել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպի խոսնակը:

Ադրբեջանական կողմը վերջին օրերին առաջին անգամ հրասայլից (տանկ) արկակոծման է ենթարկել ՊԲ հարավային ուղղությամբ տեղակակայված մարտական դիրքերը: Ընդհանուր առմամբ, դեկտեմբերի 8-ին և լույս 9-ի գիշերը ղարաբաղա-ադրբեջանական հակամարտ զորքերի շփման գծում հակառակորդի կողմից հրադադարի պահպանման ռեժիմը խախտվել է ավելի քան 180 անգամ, որի ընթացքում տարբեր տրամաչափի հրաձգային զինատեսակներից, ինչպես նաև 60 (101 արկ), 82 (193 արկ), 120 (35 արկ) միլիմետրանոց ականանետերից, ՀԱՆ-17 (27 արկ) և ՌՊԳ-7 (3 արկ) տիպի նռնականետերից, հայ դիրքապահների ուղղությամբ արձակվել է շուր ջ 1500 կրակոց: Հակառակորդը կիրառել է նաև TR-107 տիպի զենիթահրթիռային կայանք (17 արկ) և հրասայլ (5 արկ): Հակառակորդի կողմից խոշոր տրամաչափի դիպուկահար հրացանից արձակված կրակոցից դեկտեմբերի 8-ին՝ ժամը 21:10-ի սահմաններում, ՊԲ արևելյան ուղղությամբ տեղակայված զորամասերից մեկի մարտական հենակետում մահացու հրազենային վիրավորում է ստացել ՊԲ պայմանագրային զինծառայող, 1991թ. ծնված Գարիկ Գուրգենի Ավանեսյանը:
