Ռուսական ՏԱՍՍ գործակալությանը տված հարցազրույցում Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը պրիմիտիվ ձևով «հիմնավորել» է հրաժարական չտալու իր պատճառը։ Ինչպես միշտ՝ Փաշինյանի մոտ գավառական շուստրիությունը գերակայել է քաղաքական ռացիոնալությանը։
 
Նա ասում է, որ իր հրաժարականին ուղղված «ընդդիմության կոչերը հանրության շրջանում լայն տարածում չգտան»։
 
Ըստ էության, գործ ունենք գործող վարչապետի հերթական մանիպուլյացիայի հետ․ խնդիրը՝ 17 կուսակցությունները չեն, որոնց հասարակությունը կարող է վստահել, կամ՝ ոչ, ժողովուրդն է, որն՝ իր մնեծամասնության մեջ, Փաշինյանին մեղադրում է, մեղմ ասած, կապիտուլյացիայի, ավելի ստույգ՝ դավաճանության մեջ։
 
Եթե այս պահին հանրահավաքները դեռևս անհրաժեշտ մարդաշատություն չունեն, ապա այդ փաստը թող ամենևին չոգևորի Փաշինյանին։ Նա հասարակության կողմից մերժված է ու այդ փաստը գիտի բոլորց ավելի լավ, հակառակ դեպքում՝ չէր տեղաշարժվի 200 հոգանոց «ախրանայով», չէր գիշերի բունկերներում, կառավարության շենքը չէր վերածի ճաղավանդակներով «պաշտպանված» բանտի։
 
Նիկոլ, դու թաղել ես Երրորդ հանրապետությունը, որի քաղաքական ու բարոյական այցեքարտը եղել է արցախյան հաղթանակը։ Դու քաղաքական ու բարոյական առումով ապալեգիտիմացված ես ու պետք է հեռանաս։ Այլընտրանք գոյություն չունի ու զուր մի սադրի, որ ցասման մեջ գտնվող ժողովուրդը տասնյակ հազարներով հեղեղի Երևանի փողոցները։ Գնա հանգիստ, գնա առանց ցնցումների։
