Քաղաքագետ Ստեփան Դանիելյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է․
«Ռուս-թուրքական «դավադրության» մասին սպեկուլյացիաների ու դավադրության տեսությունների սիրահարները շատ են, սակայն ռացիոնալ դաշտում նրանց հիմնավորումները՝ թույլ։ Իրականում շատ պարզ սխեմա է գործում։
Կովկասի համար ռուս-թուրքական մրցակցությունն ակնհայտ է ու եղել են բազմաթիվ պատերազմներ ու, ըստ երեւույթին, էլի կլինեն։ Պատճառները նույնպես ակնհայտ են.
1. Անվտանգության խնդիրներ։ Ռուսների համար թուրքերը վտանգ են ներկայացնում, քանի որ ունեն թյուրք ու մուսուլմանական բնակչություն, որոնց զգացմունքների վրա թուրքերը միշտ խաղացել են, իսկ թուրքերը ունեն քրդերի խնդիր, որոնց ձգտումները ռուսները նույնպես օգտագործել են ու եթե պետք լինի, էլի կօգտագործեն։
Հիմա գանք նրանց հարաբերությունների երեք սխեմաներին։
1. Միմյանց հետ մրցակցում, անգամ պատերազմում են Կովկասին տիրապետելու համար։
2. Եթե որեւիցե երրորդ կողմ է փորձում մուտք գործել Կովկաս, ասենք ամերիկացիներ, կամ ինչպես ժամանակին անգլիացիներն, ապա Ռուսաստանը ու Թուրքիան միավորվում են եւ գալիս ինչ-որ պայմանավորվածության։
3. Եթե երրորդ կողմը ուղղակիորեն չի ցանկանում ներթափանցել ռեգիոն, ապա միմյանց դեմ պայքարելու համար այդ երրորդ կողմերի աջակցությունից նրանցից ոչ մեկը չի հրաժարվում։
Պարզ սխեմաներ են ու նույն միշտ եղել է Դարդանելի հարցում։ Երբ Ռուսաստանն էր ցանկանում այն գրավել, Բրիտանիան աջակցում էր թուրքերին, որ Ռուսաստանը չմտնի Միջերկրական ծով, եւ հակառակը, երբ անգլիացիներն էին ցանկանում գրավել Ստամբուլը, ռուսներն էին աջակցում թուրքերին, նախընտրելով Դարդանելի թուրքական վերահսկողությունը բրիտանականից։
Սա է ողջ սխեման եւ անիմաստ դավադրությունների տեսության մեջ պետք չի մտնել, ամեն ինչ առավել քան պարզ է։
Հիմա Հարավային Կովկասը կիսել են ու դիրքավորվում են, քանի-որ երկուսն էլ հիմա արեւմուտքի հետ խնդիրներ ունեն, մնացածն ապագան ցույց կտա, սակայն մեկ բան պարզ է, երբ աշխարհաքաղաքական հակառակորդներն անմիջական հարեւան են դառնում, դա լավ ավարտ չի ունենում»։
