Մեծ թվով հետազոտություններ ցույց են տալիս, որ կորոնավիրուսային ինֆեկցիան կարող է ախտահարել կենտրոնական նյարդային համակարգը եւ առաջացնել կոգնիտիվ ֆունկցիաների խանգարումներ եւ հոգեվիճակի հետ կապված խնդիրներ: Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի գիտնականների նոր հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ ծանր հետեւանքների ռիսկի խմբում են հայտնվում անգամ նրանք, ովքեր COVID-19-ը թեթեւ են տարել:

Հետազոտության հեղինակները վերլուծել են հաստատված COVID-19-ով 236 379 ամերիկացիների բժշկական քարտերը: Ընտրվել են ինչպես հիվանդության թեթեւ ընթացքով ամբուլատոր պացիենտները, այնպես էլ նրանք, ովքեր հոսպիտալացման կարիք են ունեցել: Մասնագետները նրանց առողջական վիճակի դինամիկան համեմատել են պացիենտների խմբի հետ, որում ընդգրկվածների մոտ 2020 թվականի ընթացքում ախտորոշվել են գրիպ եւ շնչուղիների այլ ինֆեկցիաներ:

Հետազոտության մեջ հաշվի են առնվել այնպիսի գործոններ, ինչպես տարիքը, սեռը, ռասան, ուղեկցող հիվանդությունները, այդ թվում՝ հոգեկան, ինչպես նաեւ եկամուտների մակարդակը եւ բուժծառայություններին հասանելիությունը:

Տվյալների վերլուծությունը ցույց է տվել, որ պացիենտների 33,6 տոկոսը COVID-19-ից ապաքինվելուց հետո 6 ամսվա ընթացքում բախվում է հոգեկան կամ նյարդաբանական խանգարումների: Հիմնականում դեպրեսիայի, տագնապահարույց խանգարման, կաթվածի, ներգանգային արյունահոսության, դեմենցիայի ախտանշանների: 13 տոկոսի մոտ այս ախտանիշներն առաջին անգամ էին ախտորոշվում: Հատկանշական է, որ մյուս շնչառական ինֆեկցիաներից հետո այս հիվանդությունների զարգացման հավանականությունը զգալիորեն ցածր է:

Այսպիսի խնդիրների ավելի հաճախ բախվում են մարդիկ, որոնք COVID-19-ը տարել են ծանր բարդություններով, առաջին հերթին՝ էնցեֆալոպատիայով: Սա վիճակ է, որի դեպքում ուղեղի հյուսվածքը դիստրոֆիկ կերպով փոփոխվում է, ինչն առաջացնում է դրա ֆունկցիայի խանգարում: Բայց անգամ այն պացիենտների շրջանում, որոնց մոտ կորոնավիրուսային ինֆեկցիայի թեթեւ ընթացք էր եղել, այսպիսի հետեւանքների բախվելու հավանականությունը զգալիորեն մեծ է եղել նրանց համեմատությամբ, ովքեր ապաքինվել էին գրիպից եւ շնչուղիների այլ հիվանդություններից:
