«Կապանի ճանապարհին՝ Ճակատենի հատվածում տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունները հաստատում են փորձագետների այն կանխատեսումները, որ Վարդենիսից մինչև Մեղրի ընկած սահմանային հատվածներում ադրբեջանաթուրքական զույգը սադրանքների է դիմելու: Ադրբեջանական սահմանապահ ուժերի զինծառայողները նախ փակել էին սահմանի մոտ գտնվող ճանապարհով անցնող Ճակատեն գյուղի բնակչի ճանապարհը, այնուհետև սահմանապահ դիրք տեղակայել դեպի Կապան գնացող ճանապարհի հարևանությամբ:
Վերջիններս իրենց այդ քայլը հիմնավորել են այն բանով, որ հայերը կրակել են «Բարի գալուստ Ադրբեջան» գրություն պարունակող ցուցանակի վրա: Տեղի բնակիչները պնդում են, որ իրենք նման քայլի չէին գնա, և չեն բացառում, որ հենց ադրբեջանցիները կարող է կրակած լինեն՝ հետագայում սահմանապահ հենակետն առաջ տալու նպատակով: Արյունալի պատերազմից հետո հակամարտող կողմերի ռազմական ստորաբաժանումներն իրար նման մոտ տարածքների վրա տեղակայելն անթույլատրելի է: Լուծումը՝ Վարդենիս-Մեղրի 500 կմ-ից ավելի երկարությամբ սահմանահատվածում պետք է ստեղծվեն միջդիրքային չեզոք գոտիներ»,-գրում է թերթը:
