Վերջին 20 տարիների ընթացքում գազի գինը հայ սպառողների համար բարձրացել է մոտ 3 անգամ, ինչն իր բացասական ազդեցությունն  է թողել տնտեսության և բնակչության կենսամակարդակի վրա։ Այս մասին իր հոդվածում գրել է ՀՅԴ Բյուրոյի տնտեսական հետազոտությունների գրասենյակի պատասխանատու տնտեսագետ Սուրեն Պարսյանը:

Նա, մասնավորապես, նշել է. «Ռուսական գազի գինը մշտապես կախված է եղել քաղաքական և տնտեսական գործոններից։ Անշուշտ, Հայաստանի դեպքում մեծ են եղել քաղաքական պայմանավորվածությունները, սակայն դրանք ուղեկցվել են Հայաստանի պետական գույքի ռուսական կողմին փոխանցման գործընթացներով, մասնավորապես՝ Հրազդանի 5-րդ էներգոբլոկի, «Հայռուսգազարդ» ՓԲԸ-ի 20 տոկոս պետական մասնաբաժնի և «Հայաստան-Իրան» գազատարի օտարումները, ինչպես նաև «Հայաստան-Վրաստան» 400 կՎոլտ լարմամբ էլեկտրահաղորդման գծերը շահագործման հանձնելուց հետո դրանց միանալու երաշխավորված նախապատվության իրավունքը և այլն։ Ռուսական կողմն իր հերթին մեծածավալ ներդրումներ է կատարել այս օբյեկտներում՝ ստեղծելով հազարավոր աշխատատեղեր։

Այնուամենայնիվ, պետք է փաստել, որ Հայաստանի բնական գազի գործող սակագները լուրջ խոչընդոտ են հանդիսանում բիզնեսի համար, քանի որ դրա հետևանքով հայկական ապրանքները դառնում են էլ ավելի թանկ և կորցնում են իրենց մրցունակությունը ինչպես ներքին այնպես արտաքին շուկաներում։ Հաջորդ կառավարությունը, օգտագործելով իր բոլոր քաղաքական և անձնական կապերը, առաջին հերթին պետք է արդյունավետ բանակցի ռուսական կողմի հետ՝ 30-40 ԱՄՆ դոլարով նվազեցնելով գազի գինը սահմանի վրա։
