Երկրում իր պատմական այցի երրորդ օրը Հռոմի Պապ Ֆրանցիսկոս Առաջինը կայցելի հյուսիսային Իրաքի որոշ շրջաններ, որոնք նախկինում հրավվել էին Իսլամական պետության ահաբեկիչների կողմից, հաղորդում է BBC-ն:

2014 թվականին ահաբեկիչները գրավել էին ամբողջ շրջանը՝ ոչնչացնելով պատմական եկեղեցիներն ու թալանելով դրանք: Քրիստոնյաները վերադառնում են այնտեղ 2017 թվականից, երբ ԻՊ-ն ոչնչացված էր այնտեղ:

Հռոմի Պապը նաեւ պատարագ կմատուցի Էրբիլ քաղաքի ֆուտբոլի մարզադաշտում, որտեղ ակնկալվում է մինչեւ 10 000 հավատացյալի ներկայություն:

Կան մտավախություններ, որ պատարագը կարող է հանգեցնել կորոնավիրուսի էլ ավելի մեծ տարածմանը:

Վերջին ամսում Իրաքում կտրուկ աճել են COVID-19-ով վարակման դեպքերը, ուստի դա հովվապետի ամենառիսկային ուղեւորություններից մեկն է:

Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու 84-ամյա առաջնորդն ու նրա շրջապատն արդեն պատվաստվել են կորոնավիրուսի դեմ, սակայն Իրաքը ստացել է պատվաստանյութի առաջին խմբաքանակը միայն անցած շաբաթ:

Հովվապետի քառօրյա այցը, որը մեկնարկել է ուրբաթ, նրա միջազգային ճանապարհորդության առաջին ուղղությունն է համավարակի ամբողջ ընթացքում, ինչպես նաեւ պատմության ընթացքում Հռոմի Պապի առաջին այցն է այդ երկիր:

Հաղորդվում է, որ ահաբեկիչների որոշ շիիթական խմբեր դեմ են ներկայացել այդ այցին, ինչը կարող է նշանակել, որ ուղեւորությունը հավասարազոր է երկրի գործերում արեւմտյան միջամտությանը:

Այնուհետեւ կայցելի Իրաքում խոշորագույն եկեղեցի, որը մասնակի ոչնչացվել էր ԻՊ-ի կողմից Կարակոշում, որտեղ վերադարձել են քրիստոնյաներն այդ խմբավորման պարտությունից հետո:

Իրաքի անվտանգության ուժերի շուրջ 10 000 աշխատակից է ներգրավվել այցի ժամանակ Հռոմի Պապին պաշտպանելու համար, ինչպես նաեւ սահմանվել է շուրջօրյա պարետային ժամ, որպեսզի սահմանափակվի կորոնավիրուսի տարածումը:
