Отказ от курения положительно сказывается не только на физическом здоровье человека, но и на его настроении и самоощущении. Об этом сообщается в исследовании, проведенном группой специалистов под руководством Джеммы Тейлор из Университета Бата.

Они проанализировали данные 102 исследований с участием более 150 000 человек и выяснили, что отказ от курение минимум на 6 недель на самом деле снижает уровень тревоги и стресса.

Это также относится к людям с психическими заболеваниями, которые опасаются, что болезнь усугубится из-за стресса от отказа от курения. На самом деле, однако, уровень стресса падает во всех группах людей, бросающих курить. Таким образом, предположение о том, что отказ от курения может ухудшить социальную жизнь и участиться одиночество, не подтвердилось.

«Эти преимущества отказа от курения, по-видимому, одинаковы для разных групп, - отметила Джемма Тейлор. – Прежде всего, нет причин опасаться, что люди с психическими заболеваниями пострадают, если бросят курить».
