Շատ հետազոտություններ են կատարվել եղանակային պայմանների եւ կորոնավիրուսի տարածման արագության միջեւ կապի վերաբերյալ, եւ արդյունքները հակասական են եղել: Համաշխարհային օդերեւութաբանական կազմակերպությունը (ՀՕԿ) ոչ մի ապացույց չի գտել, որ եղանակային պայմանները կարող են էական ազդեցություն ունենալ կորոնավիրուսի տարածման արագության վրա:

ՏԱՍՍ-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ մասնագետները հիշրել  են, որ շնչառական հիվանդությունները հաճախ սեզոնային բնույթ են կրում, հատկապես բարեխառն կլիմայական պայմաններում: Այդ փաստը նպաստել է այն ակնկալիքներին, որ COVID-19-ը հիմնականում սեզոնային հիվանդություն կլինի: Սակայն փորձը ցույց է տվել, որ 2020 թվականին հիվանդության տարածման դինամիկան ավելի շատ կախված էր կառավարությունների ձեռնարկած միջոցառումներից, քան օդերեւութաբանական գործոններից:

Մասնագետների կարծիքով՝ դեռ չկա ապացույցներ, որ վիրուսի վրա ուղղակի օդերեւութաբանական ազդեցությունն էականորեն ազդում է աշխարհում իրական պայմաններում դրա փոխանցման մակարդակի վրա: Վիրուսի կենսունակության վրա օդի աղտոտվածության ազդեցության վերաբերյալ տեղեկատվության հաստատում նույնպես չկա:

Այնուամենայնիվ, զեկույցի վրա աշխատող փորձագետների խմբի համանախագահ Բեն Զայտչիկը հորդորել է Հյուսիսային կիսագնդում տեղակայված պետությունների ղեկավարներին չթուլացնել ջերմաստիճանի բարձրացման հետ կապված սահմանափակումները:

«Համաճարակի առաջին տարում մենք տեսանք, որ ավելի տաք սեզոնների ընթացքում վարակի ալիքները սաստկանում են, եւ ոչինչ չի խոսում այն մասին, որ դա չի կարող կրկնվել այս տարի»,-եզրափակել է նա:
