ՄԱԿ-ին ու նրա գործընկերներին 3,2 մլրդ դոլար կպահանջվի 2016 թվականին Սիրիայի բնակիչներին օգնություն ցուցաբերելու համար: Այդ մասին, դեկտեմբերի 14-ին Դամասկոսում հայտարարել է համաշխարհային կազմակերպության գլխավոր քարտուղարի հումանիտար հարցերով տեղակալ ՍթÕ �վեն Օ՛Բրայենը: Նրա խոսքով՝ կարիքավոր սիրիացիների թիվը գնահատվում է 13,5 մլն:
«ՄԱԿ-ը գործընկերների հետ միասին ավարտել է 2016 թվականի համար հումանիտար արձագանքման ծրագրի մշակումը: Մեզ 3,2 մլրդ դոլար է անհրաժեշտ 13,5 մլն սիրիացիների օգնություն ցուցաբերելու համար, որոնք տարաբնույթ աջակցման կարիք ունեն»,- ասել է Օ՛Բրայենը:
Նա հայտնել է, որ այսօրվա դրությամբ Սիրիայում 400 հազար մարդ ապրում է շրջափակման պայմաններում, եւս 4,5 միլիոնը մարտերի պատճառով գտնվում են դժվարամատչելի շրջաններում: Նրանց համապատասխանաբար միայն 1,5 եւ 7 տոկոսն է տարեսկզբից հումանիտար օգնություն ստացել ՄԱԿ-ից ու գործընկերներից, նշել է գլխավոր քարտուղարի տեղակալը: Նա հիշեցրել է, որ բնակչությանը մարդասիրական օգնության անարգել մատակարարման ապահովումը «հակամարտության բոլոր կողմերի պարտավորությունն է», հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
