Ученые из Техасского университета разработали портативное устройство SWEATSENSER Dx, анализирующее пот человека и выявляющее признаки надвигающегося цитокинового шторма – смертельно опасной иммунной реакции.

Как сообщает The Daily Mail, речь идет о сенсорных полосках с антителами, которые реагируют на провоспалительные белки. Сенсорные полоски содержат антитела к 7 провоспалительным белкам.

Разработку поверили на 6 здоровых добровольцах и 5 добровольцах с гриппом и еще одним вирусом, способным вызвать цитокиновый шторм. У двоих из больных был повышенный уровень цитокинов. В целом у всех добровольцев цитокины выявляли в поте.

По словам разработчиков, важно, чтобы замеры производились в состоянии покоя, так как физическая активность сама по себе способна менять уровень цитокинов. Сенсоры очень чувствительны, и для анализа требуется совсем немного пота – специально потеть для него не придется.

Эксперименты показали, что SWEATSENSER Dx был достаточно чувствительным, чтобы измерять цитокины у пациентов, принимающих противовоспалительные препараты, которые снижают уровни воспаления и концентрацию воспалительных маркеров в поте. Устройство отслеживало уровни цитокинов в течение 168 часов. Далее требовалось заменить сенсорную полоску.
