«Այսօր որդուս հետ գնացել էի իմ ծննդավայր՝ Կարմիր շուկա:
Վերադառնալուց, Խաչմաչ գյուղի մոտ տեղակայված ռուսական խաղաղապահների ուղեկալի մոտ, հանդիպեցի դեպի Շուշի գնացող ադրբեջանական բեռնատարների երկար շարասյան, որն այդ պահին կանգնած էր…
Կանգնած էր ոչ թե ճանապարհի եզրին, այլ հենց մեջտեղում, իսկ մեքենաների վարորդներն ու զինվորական համազգեստով նրանց ուղեկցող ադրբեջանցիները՝ դուրս թափված, անդուր հայացքներով նայում էին եկող-գնացող հայկական մեքենաներին և արանքում էլ վիրավորական բառեր նետում անցորդների վրա: Ստիպված էի մեքենան կանգնեցնել ուղեկալի մոտ և ռուս զինվորին խնդրել, որ կարգի հրավիրի այդ թափթփուկներին…

«Սադրանքներին չարձագանքելով», բայց ներքին ցասումով ծանրաբեռնված, շարունակեցինք ճանապարհը… Ծանր ապրումներից շվարած, չհասցրի նկատել, թե ինչպես հասանք Շոշի բարձունք… Մեր դիմաց գրավյալ Շուշիի համայնապատկերն էր… Հեռվում երևում էր Ղազանչեցոց եկեղեցին՝ անգմբեթ ու ավերվող… Իսկ իմ ականջներում տակավին ռուս զինվորի «խորհուրդն» էր… Թե որքան սա կշարունակվի, չգիտեմ…»։
