Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնն առաջին անգամ ընդունել է Ֆրանսիայի պատասխանատվությունը Ռուանդայում տեղի ունեցած ցեղասպանության համար, որի ընթացքում 1994 թվականի ապրիլից հունիս ընկած ժամանակահատվածում սպանվել է շուրջ 800 000 մարդ: Այս մասին գրում է «ՌԻԱ Նովոստի» գործակալությունը:

«Ֆրանսիան իր դերն է խաղացել և քաղաքականապես պատասխանատու է Ռուանդայում տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունների համար: Ֆրանսիան նաև պարտավոր է առերեսվել պատմությանը և խոստովանել, որ ինքը տառապանք է պատճառել Ռուանդայի ժողովրդին` իրեն երկար լռություն թույլ տալով ճշմարտության քննության առջև ... Ֆրանսիան չի հասկացել, որ, ձգտելով կանխել տարածաշրջանային հակամարտությունը կամ քաղաքացիական պատերազմը, փաստացիորեն կողմնակից է դարձել ցեղասպան ռեժիմին»,-ասել է Մակրոնը՝ ելույթ ունենալով Ռուանդայի Գիսոզի քաղաքում գտնվող Ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակի կենտրոնում:

Ֆրանսիան ապրիլի 7-ին բացել է արխիվները, որոնք վերաբերում էին Ռուանդայում 1994 թվականին իրականացված ցեղասպանությանը, որի հետևանքով զոհվել է շուրջ 800 000 մարդ:

Ուսումնասիրող խմբի զեկույցը, որի ծավալն ավելի քան 1000 էջ է, ներկայացվել է Մակրոնին մարտի 26-ին: Հանձնաժողովը, որը 2 տարի ուսումնասիրում էր այս հարցը, եզրակացրել է, որ Ֆրանսիան «կույր է գտնվել Ռուանդայում ցեղասպանության նախապատրաստման նկատմամբ»: Սակայն, ըստ պատմաբանների, «ոչինչ չի ապացուցում», որ Փարիզը եղել է ցեղասպանության մասնակից:
