Տարիներ շարունակ, երբ ղեկավարում էի Պաշտպանության բանակի մամուլի ծառայությունը, հենց որևէ արտակարգ դեպք էր տեղի ունենում, րոպեներ անց ինձ հետ կապվում էին զանգվածային լրատվամիջոցների ներկայացուցիչները և համառորեն տեղեկություն պահանջում կատարվածի մասին: Առավել հետաքրքրվածներն էին «Հայկակակն ժամանակը», «Ազատությունը» և էլի մի քանիսը: Ասել, որ դրանում ինչ-որ խնդիր էի տեսնում, ճիշտ չէր լինի և, բնականաբար, իմ պարտականությունների շրջանակում, եթե ոչ հենց տվյալ պահին, ապա քիչ անց՝ դեպքի մանրամասները համակողմանի պարզելուց հետո, մամուլի ծառայությունը տարածում էր պաշտոնական հաղորդագրություն...
Մինչդեռ այսօր, երբ 44-օրյա պատերազմից անցել է շուրջ յոթ ամիս և մենք չունենք սպառիչ տվյալներ ոչ միայն մեր զոհերի, այլև գերիների ու պատանդների թվաքանակի մասին, ես ուզում եմ հարցնել «Հայկական ժամանակի» երբեմինի տիրոջն ու այսօր վարչապետի ժամանակավոր պաշտոնի աթոռը զավթածին, ինչու չես հրահանգում կատարածու լրագրողներիդ դիմել պաշտպանության նախարարություն և պարզել, գոնե, այն զոհերի, անհայտ կորածների և գերիների թիվը, ովքեր համարվում էին զինված ուժերի հաստիքային ծառայողներ: Չէ՞ որ յուրաքանչյուր զինծառայող հաշվառված է և ունի համապատասխան պաշտոն...
Վերջապես մեր երկրի պաշպանական գերատեչությունն ունի՞ կադրերի, կազմզորահավաքային, զինծառայողների սոցիալական պաշտպանության վարչություններ կամ զինվորական կոմիսարիատ, որոնք պարտավոր են իրենց տրամադրության տակ ունենալ նշված տվյալները...
Ասեմ, որ «նախկինների» օրոք հենց այդ կառույցների համակարգված և օպերատիվ աշխատանքի արդյունքում է բավականին կարճ ժամանակահատվածում պարզվել ինչպես Արցախյան առաջին (5420 զոհ, 297 անհայտ կորած ), այնպես էլ ապրիլյան պատերազմների (88 մարտական զոհ ) ընթացքում ունեցած մեր կորուստների ճշգրիտ թվաքանակը:
