«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է

«Ո՞վ է ուզում դառնալ միլիոնատեր» խաղը գրեթե անմիջապես է դարձել ամենատարածված և գնահատված հեռուստախաղերից մեկը ամբողջ աշխարհում: Խաղի ձևաչափը ձեռք են բերել աշխարհի 120 երկրների հեռուստաընկերություններ: Այն հավասարապես տարածված է Եվրոպայում, Ասիայում և Ամերիկայում: Անգլիայում հաղթողի մրցանակային գումարը 1 միլիոն ֆունտ է, ԱՄՆ-ում՝ 1 միլիոն դոլար, իսկ, օրինակ՝ Ռուսաստանում՝ դարձյալ մեկ միլիոն, բայց միայն թե ռուբլի: Իսկ որտե՞ղ է առաջին անգամ հայտնվել այս խաղը: Հեռուստախաղի ծննդյան վայրը Մեծ Բրիտանիան է, այստեղ այն առաջին անգամ ցուցադրվել է 1998 թվականին: Այնուամենայնիվ, հեռուստախաղի իրական պատմությունն սկսվել է մի փոքր շուտ:

Դրա նախատիպը եղել է «Կրկնապատկիր խաղադրույքը» ռադիոխաղը: Այդ խաղի գաղափարը պատկանում է Դեյվիդ Բրիգսին, իսկ վարել է Քրիս Թերրենթը: Խաղի իմաստն այն էր, որ ռադիոյի եթերի ժամանակ ունկնդիրը զանգահարում էր ստուդիա և պատասխանում տրվող հարցին՝ ստանալով շահում: Ճիշտ պատասխանի դեպքում նա կարող էր յուրաքանչյուր նոր հարցով կրկնապատկել իր շահումը: Խաղն անմիջապես գրավել է ունկնդիրների ուշադրությունը, բայց ռադիոկայանի ղեկավարությունն է շատ դժգոհ մնացել, քանի որ մի քանի անգամ ստիպված է եղել բավականին մեծ գումարներ վճարել մասնակից ունկնդիրներին: Խաղը շուտով դադարեցվել է, և Դեյվիդ Բրիգսը ռադիոյից հեռացել է հեռուստատեսություն, որտեղ մշակել է այդ խաղի հեռուստատեսային տարբերակը 1 միլիոն ֆունտ ստերլինգ մրցանակային գումարով: Խաղի գաղափարը դուր է եկել ITV1 հեռուստաալիքի ղեկավարությանը, և շուտով տեղի է ունեցել «Փողի սար» անվանումով փորձնական խաղի թողարկումը:

Նկարահանումներից հետո որոշվել է փոփոխություններ կատարել ոչ այնքան հաջողված այդ հեռուստատեսային նախագծում: Հարցերի քանակը կրճատվել է և դարձել 15-ը, նախատեսվել է անցկացնել «նախընտրական փուլ», փոփոխվել է ստուդիայի դիզայնը և երաժշտական ուղեկցումը, իսկ խաղն ստացել է իր ներկայիս անունը՝ «Ո՞վ է ուզում դառնալ միլիոնատեր»: Նորացված խաղը հեռուստատեսությամբ թողարկելուց հետո գրեթե ակնթարթորեն գրավել է միլիոնավոր հեռուստադիտողների մտքերն ու սրտերը: Դրա մեջ մեծ ավանդ ունի խաղի առաջին հաղորդավար Քրիս Թերենթին: ԱՄՆ-ի և Ավստրալիայի ընկերությունները փորձել են գայթակղել Թերենթիին և տանել իրենց մոտ, բայց ապարդյուն: Ի դեպ, նույնիսկ խաղի անմիջական մասնակից չլինելով՝ նա իր առաջին միլիոնը դեռ վաղուց էր վաստակել:

Խաղի հաջողությունը գերազանցել է բոլոր սպասելիքները, մեկ տարվա ընթացքում այն հավաքել է բազմամիլիոնանոց հանդիսատես: Խաղի անհավատալի ժողովրդականությանը նպաստել է նաև առաջին միլիոնը շահած երջանիկ մասնակիցը: Առաջին իսկ տարում շատ երկրների հեռուստաընկերություններ համաձայնել են գնել խաղի իրավունքը սեփականատիրոջից` Celador ընկերությունից: 2006 թվականին 2WayTraffic ընկերությունը գնել է հեռուստատեսային խաղի ձևաչափը նախորդ սեփականատիրոջից: 2007 թվականի օգոստոսից խաղը թողարկվել է էական փոփոխություններով. առաջին հերթին հարցերի թիվը դարձել է 12: Փոխվել է երաժշտական և գրաֆիկական դիզայնը:
