«Ժողովուրդ» օրաթերթը գրում է.
«Ժողովուրդ» օրաթերթին մանրամասներ են հայտնի դարձել, թե ինչու է հրաժարական տվել ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանը։ Մեր տեղեկություններով՝ Պն-ում վերջինիս հեռանալը բավականին տարօրինակ ու զարմանալի են ընդունել, քանի որ վերջին ամիսներին, շաբաթներին Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանի մտերիմները երբ հարցրել են, թե կա խոսակցություն, որ նրան ազատելու են եւ փոխարինեն Կարապետյանով, վերջինս պնդել է, թե անիմաստ խոսակցություններ են, եւ նման բան չկա:

Ու մինչ նրա մտերիմները զարմացած են ու դեռ չունեն կարեւոր հարցի պատասխանը, թե ինչու նրան ազատեցին, ՊՆ-ում այլ խոսակցություններ են պտտվում: Մասնավորպես, Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանի ազատումը, կարծում են, պատահական չէ, քանի որ իշխանությունները Արշակ Կարապետյանին պատահական չէին ուղարկել ԶՈւ գլխավոր շտաբի պետի տեղակալ, այլ նախապես՝ ընտրություններից առաջ, հստակ որոշված է եղել, որ երբ ընտրութունները հաջող ավարտվեն, Արշակ Կարապետյանը նշանակվելու է պաշտպանության նախարար:

Լուրեր կան, թե Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանի գործունեության մասով այնքան բան են հասցրել ՀՀ վարչապետին, պնդել, որ նա չի կարողանում կառավարել, չի դիմակայում տարածաշրջանի մարտահրավերներին, որ իշխանությւններն էլ որոշել են նրան փոխել: Ասել է թե՝ Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանի «տակը ՊՆ-ում փորել են», ու բանը հասել է ազատմանը: Ստեղծված իրավիճակի շուրջ փորձեցինք զրուցել Վաղարշակ Հարությունյանի հետ, սակայն նա ողջ օրվա ընթացքում այդպես էլ չպատասխանեց մեր հեռախոսազանգերին ու նամակներին։
